Episode 369: Lucky Man's Suspense

Scenario: Doctor Yokoto Ōwada of the Beika Central Hospital wins the third place prize at a raffle. The raffle makes it his third winning of the week. When Conan returns home, he discovers that the one year supply of beer that Doctor Ōwada won is a lie because the draw didn't start yet. The next day, the Detective Boys find out the raffle had been fixed by a tall and slender woman posing as the doctor's wife and when walking down the streets, they overhear gossip of the doctor's other made up winnings. Following the trail of gossip, they soon find the woman responsible for the rumors named Akiko Shiina and her motive. Conan dismisses the case to trick the Detective Boys into going home, but returns at night to stop Akiko from murdering the doctor.

Episode 368: The Candy House the Witch Lives In

Scenario: Sonoko takes Conan and Ran to the "Candy House", a Hansel and Gretel-themed store specializing in various sweets and candies. The trio then meets three masters who make pastries and puddings: Maeda Gou, Fujino Yasuo and Morimoto Tomomi. Behind the scenes of the shop is their boss, Sachiko Hashigaki, who has stern words for her employees about their performance. When things have cooled down, Sachiko is found bludgeoned to death, her employees are now suspects, but no murder weapon can be found. Conan discovers that they all have a motive and finds wood shavings in different parts of the crime scene. He goes on to stun Sonoko and reveals that a real log was used to kill Sachiko, and the only suspect who specializes in making cakes that resemble pieces of logs is Fujino Yasuo. As evidence, Fujino baked the murder weapon into a cake which is found at his station. Fujino confesses that Sachiko promised that he could leave and start his own company if he won a baking competition. Hatred grew when Sachiko went back on her promise, seeing how Fujino's popularity is the source of her clientele plus the abuse he was suffering from her hands. Sachiko is the prime example of the witch in Hansel and Gretel, the story which the Candy House was themed after.

Sachiko is discovered lying dead on the floor of the Candy House.

Sonoko take Ran and Conan to the "Candy House" in the Ecriture. In there, Conan meets a group of three masters who make pastries and puddings: Tsuyoshi Maeda the "Iron Pastry" Chief, Yasuo Fujino the "Prince of Pastries", and Yumi Morimoto the "Candy Magician". They taste the sweets that the three chefs made, which are very delicious. Later, they suddenly hear a scream. The suspects all have motives for murdering Hashigaki, but Morimoto becomes the prime suspect as she is the only one who stayed inside the Ecriture.

Scenario: Conan investigates and with evidence proves who the culprit is. The culprit reveals that he did it to the victim for cheating on his(victim)'s wife. The wife reveals that he divorced her not because he was cheating, but because he was going to burrow money to start up a business, and if that business failed, he did not want the debt collectors to burrow his wife. Agasa arrives and reveals that the victim made a full recovery and that he will forgive the culprit if he catches fish for his wife.

Scenario: After interrogating the woman, they learn her boyfriend was a gold digger and that he was spotted talking with the attacker from before. Conan figures out that the two exchanged murder targets so they would not be suspected of the murder. The culprit reveals that he did it so his gold digger career would not be endangered. Recalling that Minamizato was at the lobby asking about a package from Anzai, the three head to her room to question her about the man's identity when a man in sunglasses attempted to murder her with an ash tray.

Minamizato is almost murdered by a man in sunglasses but is saved due to Kogoro, Ran, and Conan's intervention. Unfortunately, Ran's kick misses the man and knocks out Kogoro instead. The man uses the commotion to kick Ran onto Conan before escaping.

At the hospital, Minamizato reveals that she was in a relationship with Anzai and they were thinking about marriage. However, she lost all contact with him half a year ago after giving him a huge amount of cash and came to Tokyo to find out about his whereabouts after some people told her that he was last seen in Tokyo. Kogoro concludes that the man must be a gold digger who is only after her money. Also, the picture of Anzai matches with the man Kogoro spotted in the Sports Centre where he tailed Shoichiro, which the fitness instructor reveals that the man also went under another alias known as Tanizaki. They also witness him with another woman who is clearly targeted by him for her money. With this revelation, Conan finally connects the relationships of all the people involved with the two cases and begins the deduction.

As Ran and Conan are having lunch, Shoichiro Hitomi falls to death from the Kaoru Minamizato's room.

Scenario: Mouri is hired to stalk a man. He follows the man and finds out his attempted murder on a woman. He later flees but falls off a building. Later they find out his twin brother also died at the same time he did. They decided they are two separate cases but Conan is suspicious as the man attacked the woman who has no relationship to him.

Kogoro goes undercover at Beika Sports Center: stalking a man named Shoichiro Hitomi who is negotiating with a rich man by the swimming pool. After the negotiation failed, the man enters the sport club's restroom while Kogoro receives a call from Ran and Conan. The two informs him that since he won't be back for the lunch, they decide to go and have "cheap and unlimited buffet" by themselves at Viking which causes Kogoro's stomach to growl. At the same time, the target exits the restroom with a serious expression, worrying Kogoro. He follows Mr. Hitomi to Beika Hotel and witnesses him calling someone with a payphone. However, he runs into Ran and Conan who informs him that they are having lunch at the hotel. The three spy on Mr.Hitomi who repeatedly glances at the reception when a young woman asks the employee if he has a package from a man named Manabu Anzai. Later, as Ran and Conan are eating in the restaurant, they witness Mr.Hitomi falling off the building.

Minamizato was attacked by Hitomi shortly before the latter fell to death.

The police soon arrive and take away Mr. Hitomi's body. Kogoro summarizes the situation before the accident to Megure: he was riding the elevator with the victim and Minamizato when the victim left on the ninth floor. Kogoro quickly followed him to the stairway and witnessed him forcing his way into Minamizato's room and attacked her. He broke the door down and saw the unconscious Minamizato on the floor and Hitomi attempting to escape through the balcony. The man slipped, and fell to his doom.

Megure interrogates Minamizawa who denies having any connection with her attacker/the victim. They find out that the last person who made a call with the victim was his sister-in-law, Kanako, at 11:20 AM. Afterwards, Minamizawa asks the group to leave. At the lobby, Conan points out that despite having a mobile phone, the victim was using the payphone in the hotel prior to the accident. As they're conversing, Megure arrives and informs the three of the death of Hitomi's twin brother at Haido Mansion.

Around the same time of Hitomi's death, his twin brother Takehiko was murdered.

Kogoro reveals that the person who hired him was Takehiko Hitomi as he suspected that his twin brother was impersonating as him and engaging in illegal businesses. He also found out that the man had a huge amount of debt. Although they think that the two cases are separate, they decide to head to the site of murder. The crime scene showed that the murderer broke in through the window to rob the house, and that the house key is a special one that cannot be duplicated easily. They interrogate Kanako, who informs them that she was at Beika City before returning home and witnessing her murdered husband. Kanako reveals that she gave her brother-in-law her spare key and her phone number as she wants them to reconcile after the two fought due to their father's will of leaving the company to Takehiko. She also reveals that she was called to Beika Station by Shoichiro at 12:30 PM but he never came. From the information, they conclude that the two cases are not connected and are just synchronicity. However, Conan still has his doubts about the attempted murder of Minamizato and her unknown connection with the two victims.

Scenario: An old lady is found dead after a pot falls on her from the top of a building.

It seems that the crows accidentally made the potted plant fall from the top of the apartment and hit Egami's head. Could this be an accident?

Detective Chiba is sent to investigate, and Conan helps him to figure out who the culprit really is. The news, of course, comes as a shock to Ayumi, who just happens to look up to the culprit.

The other students reveal that he died saving a student that fell off the stairs while holding a heavy sculpture. Another student explains that his desk was put in the storage room to store his desk for graduation and was not to hide evidence. Dr.Araide reveals that the dead student held no grudges when he died.

Episode 361: Teitan High School's Ghost Story (Part 1)

Strange things have been occurring early in the morning at three places in Teitan High. These are attributed to the grudge of a former student, Hideaki Hosaka, who died after falling down stairs two years ago. Later, the dead student's desk if found in the middle of the quad with a threatening note.

Scenario: Sonoko, Ran, and Conan go to the school where they discover the real Dr. Araide is back. He informs Conan of what happened, and told him that Jodie told him to tell him everything. Later, Sonoko rants on about the death of a student terrorizing the school, and tells them stories to support this claim. Later the desk is found outside with a name on it. What's strange is that it's raining, yet, there's no footprints in the mud.

Sonoko, Ran, and Conan go to Teitan High School to investigate mysterious events supposedly caused by the grudge of a dead student named Hideaki Hosaka. Ran and Sonoko greet some friends and introduce Conan to them; the friends tease Conan and Ran by saying Shinichi are Conan rather alike. Conan then runs into the real Dr. Araide, who has returned. He informs Conan of that he had been hiding overseas with his family, and told him that Jodie told him to tell Conan everything. Ran asks Dr. Araide to help investigate the ghost story with them.

Sonoko explains there are three stories showing that the student's ghost is terrorising the school in the early morning hours. The first is that a girl heard the sound of someone sobbing in the sports warehouse where the dead student's desk is stored. After bringing a professor to investigate, the crying had stopped and, no one was found inside. Third year student and Ran's Karate senpai, Kazumi Tsukamoto, interrupts after overhearing the story, saying Hideaki Hosaka fell down a set of stairs and that wind blowing through a small window may account for the sounds heard. Kazumi Tsukamoto notices that it has started raining outside and suggests Ran and company go the library and that she will help with the investigation. On the way, they cross Seko Kunishige who goes to the nurse's office.

In the library, Sonoko relates the second story. Four mornings in a row, books that had been borrowed by Hosaka were found scattered around in the library. Finally, Sonoko and gang go to the stairs that Hosaka died after falling from for the last tale. An unexplained puddle of water formed at the bottom of the stairs, and supposedly the number of steps on the stairs changes. The last part was disproved when Conan notices Sonoko messed up her count. While they were arguing, art student Monobe Masao berates them for being loud.

Ran looks out the window and sees a desk outside that hadn't been there earlier. Conan and Araide run out to investigate. The desk was the one from the sports warehouse, and a weighed down note atop it reads: "My resentment isn't gone yet". Furthermore, Conan notices that although it had been raining, there are no footprints in the mud around the desk, and the desk and the note are dry.

Scenario: The Detective Boys visit a pet shop and find the owner, Minoru Shirai, dead. They find a Rhinoceros beetle and pamphlets of an insect museum at Gunma Prefecture. Takagi drives the Detective Boys to the museum where they learn that a truck load of Rhinoceros beetles were stolen from the van. Conan investigates and realizes Shirai and an accomplice were the thieves and that the accomplice was the murderer.

The Detective Boys saw Minoru's corpse in the pet shop

Deducing from his investigation that the accomplice is one of the employees at the museum, Conan tranquilizes Yamamura and reveals Takashi Ishida to be the culprit. Conan explains that evidence on Shirai's body suggested he was murdered in the van and was strangled by a strap from the museum. As further evidence, Conan reveals that he saw a message from Ishida's phone that proves he was selling the stolen Rhinoceros beetles. Ishida confesses to the murder and explains that Shirai was always insulting him.

Scenario: They confront the golfer and discover he is not the owner of the backpack. Conan investigates the backpack's contents and upon sniffing oil from a rag, reveals the owner to the baseballer. Conan explains that out of the other three athletes, the baseballer uses the oil for his baseball glove. They then search for the baseballer and upon finding him, follow him to the aquatic show. When Sato discovers the baseballer is meeting with Yakura, she attempts to apprehend him. Yakura manages to escape Sato's grip and flees towards the ferris wheel. The fireworks and ferris wheel causes Sato to remember a traumatic moment halting her to a standstill. Conan manages to knock Yakura into the ocean and Takagi's backpack and ring is lost along with it. The police apprehend Yakura and satisfied with Takagi's lost, leaves. Takagi comforts Sato and promises her he will not leave her.

Scenario: Takagi and Sato are on a date at the amusement park. Meanwhile, Shiratori along with several officers are at the amusement park investigating a rumored drug deal involving a dealer in hiding named Asakichi Yakura; At the same time, they intentionally interfere with Takagi's date. Shiratori has one of the officers bring the Detective Boys to the park and puts them in Takagi and Sato's care. Takagi meanwhile plans to present Sato with a ring inside his green backpack and discovers a bag of heroin inside; He realizes he picked up the wrong backpack during the roller coaster ride. They return to the ride and learn from the attendant that no one returned asking for the backpack. Conan discerns the bag's owner was delivering the drugs without knowing what was inside causing Sato to suspect Yakura's involvement. The backpack's strap reveals the owner wears it on his left shoulder suggesting he is left handed, and proceeds to a photo-booth to examine the passengers with them on the roller coaster. The officers meanwhile misunderstand Sato's conversation, believing Kekkon (血痕, lit. Bloodstain) to mean Kekkon (結婚, lit. Marriage) and Heroin to mean Hirōen (披露宴, lit. Reception) and causing them to believe Takagi proposed and allures them to seek out Takagi's backpack with the ring. At the photo booth, the four suspected are a golfer, a baseball player, soccer player, and swimmer. The golfer's writing reveals him to be left handed due to the ink smearing to the right.

Scenario: Ran and Conan run into Sachiko,an acquaintance of Ran's, while shopping. She says she is buying steak and wine for dinner with her lover who's visiting. Ran is impressed that Sachiko has someone she wants to cook for. The next day Ran and Conan find that Sachiko is murdered. Kogoro gets permission to take a look, since Sachiko was a friend of Ran.

Sachiko was about to call the police when she was bludgeoned with a bronze statue. Money and jewels are missing from the apartment.

Everyone suspects Sachiko's lover, who is nowhere to be found. The place has been robbed of money and jewels. But only Sachiko's steak had been eaten and there were no prints besides Sachiko's found on any of the items on the table. Ran can't believe that someone who Sachiko loved would do such a thing remembering how happy Sachiko had seemed the day before. Other odd points comes to light. Why does this lover only visit on 25th every month? Why didn't Sachiko tell her close friend from her school day about him? Why didn't this lover touch his food? All they find out is that the relationship began a year and a half ago, and that Sachiko would be excited when 25th would come around. A witness, who Sachiko had brought wine from, claims to have seen the lover leaving her building, recognizing him from a month ago, and agrees to provide a sketch. Just as Ran is about to give up hoping for the lover's innocent, she starts to realize the truth with hints from Conan. She and Conan questions a friend of Sachiko and thereafter an elder lady. Then they go to Takagi, convinced that the lover isn't the killer.

Episode 356: Kaitou Kid's Miraculous Midair Walk

Scenario: Sonoko's uncle wants to capture Kaito Kid to improve his fame. Kaito Kid arrives on the scene and seemingly walks on air to investigate the treasure he will steal. Conan investigates and finds out the trick Kaito Kid used. The second time Kaito Kid tries to steal the jewel but it was revealed to be a distraction. Kaito Kid steals the jewel from indoors and is making his escape on a motorcycle when Conan is found to be on the passenger seat. Kaito Kid manages to lose Conan and escape once again.

Sonoko's uncle named Jirokichi Suzuki wants to capture Kaitou Kid to improve his fame, by Kaitou Kid to see if he can steal the jewel called, "Blue Wonder", in reality Jirokichi wants to use it as bait. He sent a message to Kid saying, "Attention Kaitou Kid. I challenge you: I've put the priceless artifact Blue Wonder atop my museum in the city. Come and take it if you can." Later, Kaitou Kid accepts Jirokichi's challenge and will steal the Blue Wonder.

That night, Ginzo Nakamori and the police are waiting for Kaitou Kid to come. The helicopters are flying around the museum. Kid arrives on the scene and seemingly walks on air to investigate the treasure he will steal. Conan Edogawa investigates and finds out the trick Kaitou Kid used. The second time Kaitou Kid tried to steal the jewel but it was revealed to be a distraction.

Scenario: The forensic team reveals that Kamoshita was knocked on the head with a shower nozzle knocking him unconscious and was later strangled. While the police are watching a videotape found in Kamoshita's room, Conan notices that the movie ended two minutes earlier than the time indicated on the box and realizes how the murder is done.

Conan tranquilizes Kogoro and uses his voice changing bowtie to impersonate him. Conan reveals that the beauty mark on the murderer was actually a blood stain and that the culprit is revealed to be Toshio Bessho as evidenced by the small blood stain near her collar. Toshio confesses to the murder and explains that she decided to play a joke on Kazuki's production company by threatening to reveal Kazuki's father is a murderer unless they pay her ¥20 million. However, they actually paid her which sparked Kamoshita's investigation. Kamshita upon finding the truth, blackmails Toshio for money which motivated her for murder. The following day, Kazuki gives Tomoka Saegusa a package of post cards and tells her she has to continue to send her monthly post cards or he will visit her again. As Kazuki leaves, Tomoka breaks down in guilt for abandoning her son those many years ago.

Scenario: A seven-year-old movie star by the name of Kazuki Kinukawa comes to the Mori office to try to find his mother who abandoned him at a church. His reasons are to tell his mother he will not give her any money now that he is famous. Conan is able to deduce Kazuki's mother is a hotel employee in Atami due to the old dirty postcards she sent him. Kazuki reveals that he remembered that his mother had a beauty mark near her breast. A freelance writer named Yushiro Kamoshita checks into the hotel as he plans to find Kazuki's mother and interview her to confirm whether Kazuki's father was truly a murderer. Later that day, Kamoshita is strangled to death but managed to take a picture on his cellphone during the attack. The picture reveals that a woman with a beauty mark near her breast is the murderer. The police gather three female employees with no alibi during the time of the murder; Each of them has a beauty mark but none of them are near the breast.

The trio and Kazuki travels to Atami to track down the hotel. They manage to find the hotel that sells the postcards and an employee there comfirms that the leftovers get divided between them. However they don't have one named Atsuko working here, but Kazuki's mother might have use another name. A freelance writer named Yasuhiro Kamoshita checks into the hotel as he plans to find Kazuki's mother and interview her to confirm whether Kazuki's father was truly a murderer. Later that day, Kamoshita is strangled to death but managed to take a picture on his cellphone during the attack.

The investigation reveals that the victim had been approaching the employees one by one and saying 'If you remember the 20 million yens, come to my room. Or else I will reveal everything.' The picture reveals that a woman with a beauty mark near her breast is the murderer. The police gather three female employees with no alibi during the time of the murder; Each of them has a beauty mark but none of them are near the breast. But as they take a closer look at the phone they discover that Kamoshita made a phone call shortly before the murder, around 11:48 PM. They call the number and get a hold of a chief editor Izumiya from 'Weekly Hot'. He explains that Kamoshita had been on the trail of a hot scoop and that the person he was going to interview was taking a shower before the interview.

A woman claiming to be Kazuki's mother claims that his father is a wanted murderer that is still on the run. She demanded 20 million yen from the production company, where Kazuki is working, for her silence. Due to that she could give accurate details on Kazuki, the company decided to pay the money.

The woman with the hot scoop was Atsuko, Kazuki's mother. Kamoshita had gotten wind of that she had contacted Kazuki's production company and blackmailed them for ¥20 million if they didn't want it public that his father was a wanted murderer who is still on the lose. The company paid the money after the woman proved her identity by showing knowledge of Kazuki's birthmark and the name of the church where he was brought up. But no one known the woman's face or her voice, since the communication had been through e-mails. Kamoshita decided to track the woman down and get the whole story from her. He was planning on taking a picture of her with his phone. Conan realized that the reason that the victim kept mentioning 20 million yen to the inn's employers was to scare one of them and find the blackmailer.
