At a bank, a mail deliverer attempts to rob the bank only to be ambushed by the police. The police reveal that the bombers hijacked a mail truck while holding the mailmen hostages and had planned to rob the bank while the police were distracted. The bombers were then arrested and it was revealed they were not responsible for the bomb crime three years ago. Later that day, Sato breaks up with Takagi claiming that every man she ever loved died.

When Takagi leans down to pick up his car keys, he sees a mysterious paper bag and decides to run away ask Shiratori if the bag contains anything suspicious, ultimately saving him from a certain death, as his car explodes just as he leaves.

Scenario: Agasa takes the Detective Boys to watch a parade. They run into Sato, who explains that they received a bomb threat and believe it is related to a bomb case three years ago. Takagi's disguise causes Sato to experience traumatic flashbacks and she resultantly slaps Takagi.

A second bomb is detonated, this time in a phone booth.

The other officers reveal Takagi's disguise resembles Sato's dead partner, Matsuda. During the parade, the bomber detonates an explosive hidden under Takagi's car; Takagi luckily was able to avoid the explosion.

Scenario: The rude man is found dead, hit on the head with a rock. Mouri immediately suspects the four friends who all had motives, but when he questions them they all have alibis. One of the women snaps though and admits to killing him, but Conan reveals with his deductions that she only knocked him out. It was the man with the business who killed him.

With some investigation by the police and Kogoro, Conan begins and investigation of his own. He discovers that the friends took advantage of Eiko's poor eyesight, so that one of them could commit the murder. It is then revealed that 13 years ago that man caused their 5th friend to commit suicide.

After some talk with Ran, Eiko turns herself to the police and confesses that she murdered Hario because he refused to apologize to the late Hondo. Kogoro doesn't trust her and deduces that she is trying to cover for the true murderers.

Episode 299: Kanmon Strait of Friendship and Murderous Intent (Part 1)

Thirteen years ago, Hondo commits suicide by taking drugs.

Scenario: Mouri has won another contest and so he, Conan and Ran go on vacation, where four friends recognize him as the famous detective Mouri Kogoro. He has dinner with them, which is interrupted by a rude man trying to buy one of the friends' businesses, but they refuse to sell. It is then revealed that 13 years ago that man caused their fifth friend, Hondo, as well as for the engagement of Akane and Otsubo to commit suicide.

On the way to visit the late Daimyo and their ancestor (Motonari), Kogoro, Conan, Ran and Kogoro stumble on the murder of Seiji Hario that the police are investigating. The suspicion quickly falls on the four friends who all have motive to murder him. However, everyone has an airtight alibi. Is the murderer the work of an outsider?

After a minor fight with a rude man by the name of Seiji Hario, whom they have met before during their travel. Eiko excuses herself and leaves the group, at which point, Akane explains that Eiko was a girlfriend of Hondo and still remains single because she couldn't forget him. Akitaya also leaves as well which Ran senses something but chooses not to say.

The trio has dinner with them which is interrupted again by Hario, who is trying to buy Akitaya's businesses, but he refuse to sell. Hario quickly leaves afterward but not before insulting the late Hondo and knocking away Otsubo. The next day, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan plan to visit Motonari Mouri, the Mouri family ancestor. However, they're soon caught up in a murder at Kanmonkyo Bridge.

Kogoro immediately suspects the four friends, all of whom had motives. However, when he questions them, all of them have solid alibis during the murder time, forcing the police to release them. However, something tips Conan off when he notices that Eiko wears eyeglasses when driving.

At night, Takashi Inoue was robbing Otsu's office and supposedly killed him when he hit him with an ashtray.

Scenario: Kisaki found herself defending a burglar being charged by the state prosecutor with murder instead of manslaughter. The burglar had been caught in the act in the inner office of a company by the proprietor. He managed to flee after a struggle where he knocked out his opponent with an ashtray. The proprietor had been discovered dead by his son-in-law and the building superintendent, who witnessed from the eyehole of the inner office door the taking place.

The superintendent went to call the police while the son-in-law knocked the door open. According to the charges, the suspect forced the victim to open the safe, where a large sum of cash was discovered missing, and subsequently fled through the window. The suspect admitted the burglary attempt, hitting the victim, but denied stealing the money. During the first hearing, Kisaki discovered the reason why the prosecution pressed for the murder charge - the victim had once cheated the daughter of the suspect. Ran persuaded Kogoro to investigate to help Kisaki defend the suspect.

Scenario: Kazuyuki Kawai invites Kogoro, Ran, and Conan to his houseboat for dinner and to view the fireworks. During the fireworks, Kawai's guest, Tsuneo Yamasaki, is found dead from electrocution. Kogoro deduces that Tsuneo slipped on some water causing his fishing rod to touch exposed electrical wiring causing his death.

Yamazaki is found dead on the boat's deck, gripping the fishing pole in his bare hands. Kawai is lying on top of him, unconscious.

Conan investigates and realizes it Is a murder. After tranquilizing Kogoro, Conan using his voice changing bowtie, reveals the murderer to be Kawai. He reveals that Kawai set up the fishing rod so it would be caught at the bow of the boat. When the fishing rod is in place, Kawai asks Yamasaki for help to pull the fishing rod loose. As Yamasaki tries to reel in the hook, Kawai pushes Yamasaki causing the fishing line to cut due to a positioned razor blade and caused Yamasaki to fall backwards with the fishing rod which touches the exposed wiring. As evidence, Conan reveals that rubber should be found in Kawai's lighter as he used it to melt the rubber off the wires to set up the murder.

Scenario: The police department receive a ransom demanding a large sum for Ran's life. The police send their men to search around town for Ran. However, it is revealed the third kidnapper is planning to murder the announcer for a Tennis match. Conan informs the police and they are able to persuade the murderer to surrender peacefully.

During her attempt to return a lost cellphone to its owner, Ran was kidnapped.

Scenario: The Detective Boys along with Kogoro, Ran, and Sonoko take a trip to Kumamoto, Kumamoto so the Detective Boys may participate in a Tennis Tournament. Ran and Sonoko explore the city and finds a cell phone on the floor. When Sonoko picks up the phone, an unknown person sends her a message declaring their love for her and leaves a location and time so they may meet. Ran and Sonoko allocate to the meeting place. While Sonoko is in the bathroom, Ran overhears three men planning to murder someone. To hide their conversation, the men kidnap Ran.

Ran awakens in a locker room with her hands tied and using the phone, manages to contact Conan. She tells him her current situation and describes her surroundings. The three men return and destroys the phone Ran was using. The Detective Boys along with Kogoro and Sonoko report the kidnapping to the authorities while Conan wonders what the objective of the three men is.

Scenario: When Conan and Heiji find the name "Kaa" and "Chi" written by Miyako many years ago, they realize who the names are referring to. Conan and Heiji have an epiphany and realize the culprit faked Tiara's time of death. Heiji then calls Yoshitsuga Kume, one of the staff members, so they could privately. Later Kume escapes and everyone splits up and searches for him on the island. Elsewhere, the culprit attempts to strangle Kume, but it is revealed to be Heiji wearing Kume's clothes. He reveals the culprit to be Daito Mikihiko. Heiji reveals that Taira actually died much later. He reveals that the message written in sand was actually in a place the waves never reached. He reveals that the water, creating the idea that the message would be washed away when the tides raised, was from the boat which was searching around the island. Heiji reveals the man who was found dead on the island was part of the robber who invaded the Mayor's house and the dying message refers to the treasure and Kō and Otsu refer to the folklore Urashima Tarō where Kō stands for the turtle while Otu stands for princess. The princess the inscription refers to is the stolen byōbu. Heiji also reveals Tiara was actually Miyako Kenshiro in disguise. Daito confesses to the murder revealing that the maid the robbers murdered was his fiance. Daito also revealed that Miyako was testing her father's love for her who was revealed to be her step-father, and when she faked the kidnapping and her father refused to pay the ransom, stole the byōbu in vengeance.

Kazuha and Ran see a boat crashed into the pier. They saw the dead captain beaten and hanging on the crashed boat.

Scenario: Heiji tells them the Anchor he found was approximately four to five years old, the same time period on which the strange events have been occurring on Onikame. It began with the mayor's daughter, Miyako Kenshiro, who was kidnapped and a year after that, burglars broke into the mayor's house stealing his byōbu and murdering a maid. They decide to search the house in case the culprit was hiding in one of the rooms and come upon evidence that Miyako lived in the house when she was young. After finding the house secure, they await for a boat. In the middle of the night, a boat crashes onto the pier. They investigate and find out it was their boat from before and that the captain was beaten to death. They find out the boat was set on autopilot and realize that the culprit of the murders is actually one of the four TV staff members with them.

Scenario: Conan visits the Southern Island with Kogoro, Ran, Heiji, and Kazuha, only to realise that yet another case was available for them to solve and this time, it was a case written on the beach. Heiji and Kogoro are invited to Okinawa to solve the case of a body that was found on Onikame (鬼亀, lit. Demon Turtle) island alongside a mysterious carved message by the body.

The deduction battle between the two shall be televised in order to boast the declining tourism of Okinawa. Heiji, Conan, Ran, and Kazuha head to the island to investigate and are accompanied by four TV station employees. They find the mysterious message as "The sleeping place of a princess shall be Kō and not Otu" where Kō and Otu could stand for multiple meanings. When Yoshie Taira is found strangled, the dying message "I am a Servitor of Goosoh", Heiji realizes she must have found something and dives into the water only to find an anchor.

Taira is found dead by Conan and Heiji on the beachshore, having been strangled. A message is left next to the body.

When they prepare to head back, they find out the captain left with the boat, stranding them on the Onikame. They decide to wait in an abandoned house until a rescue boat arrives

Episode 290: Mitsuhiko in a Forest of Indecision (Part 2)

Scenario: Conan's radar runs out of power forcing the group to search for Mitsuhiko in the forest. While they try to figure out Mitsuhiko's objective in the forest, Conan reveals that the reason Mitsuhiko smelled like lemons was because the sun screen contained Cymbopogon, a plant used as insect repellent. The group runs into the serial killer, Kiichiro Numabchi, who escapes when he is noticed. Haibara reveals that Kiichiro was part of the Black Organization and was subjected as a test subject for the APTX 4869 but flees before they could do so. They soon find Mitsuhiko with Kiichiro who is later arrested by the police. Conan reveals that Mitsuhiko's objective was to find a firefly and trap it with the bamboo leaves from the Onigiri in order to impress Ayumi and Haibara. The next day at school, Ayumi and Haibara talk about the Tsuchinoko was seemingly was spotted in Gifu. Overhearing this, Genta and Mitsuhiko plan a trip to Gifu to search for the Tsuchinoko.

In the forest, the Detective Boys and Agasa run into Officer Yamamura. He tells them that they have let loose a very dangerous criminal killer known as Ki'ichiro Numabuchi by accident, and that they were in search for him. Having met with this serial killer once before in Osaka, Conan knew how dangerous Numabuchi was already. He was there with the Gunma police because he testified that his fourth victim was buried there, as his mother was born in Gunma, but they haven't been able to find this corpse yet. Mistuhiko is in fact in the forest, but for some reason he can't pick the Detective Badge to talk to Conan. Everyone is afraid this serial killer could be targetting Mitsuhiko. After a long while of searching him, Conan starts deducing the truth.

The scent of lemon was nothing but just the sunscreen Mitsuhiko borrowed from Asami. It smelled like that because it also was an insect repelent. Suddenly, Ayumi spots Numabuchi up in a tree, but he flees. Haibara starts wondering why she can't feel people from the Black Organization anymore...

Scenario: It's summer vacation and the Detective Boys (along with Agasa) are gathered on the school ground for morning radio exercises. Professor Agasa had told the Detective Boys about these exercise once when they went to see the fireworks. When Mitsuhiko doesn't show up for the exercise, Conan, Genta, Ayumi, Haibara and Agasa decide to visit Mitsuhiko, believing that he was ill. Mitsuhiko's older sister, Asami Tsuburaya, tells them that he left saying that there was a "camping trip" with the Detective Boys, so Mitsuhiko prepaired his schoolbag to go with them and took some candies wrapped in bamboo leaves. Concerned, the kids and Agasa set off a journey into the forest in search of their best friend.

Asami told the Detective Boys that Mitsuhiko had borrowed from her a sunscreen that she had bought, which came from abroad. She also mentioned that her brother often saw a girl which worked at a flower shop, and probably was in love with her. The girl said she hadn't seen Mitsuhiko that morning, but then she realized she had seen him indeed about to take a bus. She called his name, but he didn't reply. The guys also heard from her that Mitsuhiko had been wearing his cap, smelled like lemons, and that she had seen him being warned by two men after mentioning the name of some samurais. She started wondering which they were, and she mentioned Uesugi, Takeda, Toyotomi and Takegawa.

With no more clues, the Detective Boys asked the bus driver about Mitsuhiko. He told them that he was in his bus and that he remembered him because he wasn't looking through the window but ahead, as if he was worried. He had got off the bus at a train station, so his friends went to look for him there. One of the employees there remembered him because he had bought an adult ticket by mistake and asked him to change it in a hurry. The ticket was 1,900 yen so it could be a ticket to Chiba or Gunma. A worker at Nakanojō Station in Gunma said he had seen Mitsuhiko hiding there for a while and then leaving. The Professor and the Detective Boys start looking for Mistuhiko in the Gunma Prefecture with Conan's tracking glasses... Where could he be?

Mitsuhiko is missing during the radio taiso day. The Detective Boys ask about his whereabouts from Mitsuhiko's sister and learn he had been going out to an unknown location for the past few Sundays. His sister tells them Mitsuhiko had packed a few Onigiris, and sunscreen. She also tells them Mitsuhiko has been meeting with a girl. The Detective Boys learn from the girl that Mitsuhiko boarded a bus a few hours ago and had an odd smell of lemons. Asking the bus driver, they learn Mitsuhiko boarded the bus and get off at the train station. Asking the ticket administrator, they learn Mitsuhiko headed towards Mount Osutaka. Once at the mountain, Mitsuhiko's Detective badge is caught on Conan's radar and they follow the location and end up at a forest. There, they find Misao Yamamura, who informs them they are chasing after a serial killer who took refuge in the same forest Mitsuhiko is currently in.

Scenario: Shinichi tells his mother his deductions on the case to have her solve the murder. It is revealed that since the mirror was damaged, the employees of the theater fixed the mirror, causing it to become shorter. Since the mirror was too low to conceal Heath during the musical, they decided to add a revolving trap door on the stage. It is then revealed that besides Heath, the actress Rose Hewitt was informed of the trap door as it is her job to close the trap door when Heath is carried by wires out of it. Yukiko declares Rose to be the murderer, revealing that during the time the stage was covered in the fog, Rose shot Heath through an opening between the mirror and the floor as he was rising out of the trap door. Rose then placed the gun on Heath to create the suspicion the true suspect threw the gun on stage from the terrace. As evidence, Shinichi reveals Heath grabbed onto Rose with his blood-soaked hands which was found on the inside of her glove. Shinichi and Ran take a taxi to the hotel but stop in an alleyway when Ran's handkerchief flies out the window and onto a fire escape. Shinichi leaves to retrieve it and Ran meets a mysterious FBI agent who orders her to leave as the serial killer they are searching for is nearby. Ran searches for Shinichi and finds the serial killer on the fire escape. The man prepares to shoot Ran but when the fire escape railing gives way, he loses his balance but is saved by Ran and Shinichi. Ran collapses from her illness and Shinichi leaves with her declaring to the man he will capture him the next time they meet. The next day, Yukiko receives a call of Sharon who asks her to tell Ran an angel is watching over her also. Ran awakens from her illness in the present time and phones Shinichi to talk about their time in New York. Shinichi reveals that the serial killer was found murdered by the police shortly after their encounter.

The police are still suspecting the people who are close to Flockhart at the crime scene. They checked their bodies for gunpowder but still nothing. They confirmed it was an outsider. Suddenly, the lights went off.

Scenario: The performance of The Golden Apple begins. During the climax of the musical, the actor Heath Flockhart, who is portraying Paris, is shot. The police arrive and come to the conclusion an unknown assailant rented out all the terraces in the theater and that they shot Heath from there. Shinichi reveals that he found a bullet in one of the terraces shortly after the murder but it was cold, meaning it was set up to create the idea an audience murdered Heath. He also reveals that the falling suit of armour from before was set up by a tripwire deduces that the murderer is one of the four actresses, who all have shared a romantic relationship with Heath. While Shinichi investigates to find out how the murder was done, he notices a crack in the mirror prop and realizes who the murderer is.

Scenario: Ran loses consciousness due to her illness and reminisces about her past with Shinichi in New York. Shinichi's mother, Yukiko Kudo, takes the two to view The Golden Apple musical at Broadway. When they arrive, they are introduced to a famous actress named Sharon Vineyard, and the five performers that will be performing the musical. They learn from them that an unknown culprit had sent the performers a Golden Apple with the words "For the Fairest" written on it and presume it is a threat. While touring the theater, a medieval suit of armour is sent flying towards the group. An actress is about to be hit with the armour until Ran pushes her out of the way.

Scenario: Arguing with receptionist for free dinner ticket, one of movie director's crew invited Ran and her crews. However, the director man dies at a restaurant by cyanide but they are unable to find the source poison. Meanwhile Ran is moody because of a developing fever, and a memory of Shinichi and a pale man in a wool cap floats at the edge of her mind.

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are all heading into Chinatown to have a nice dinner. In the car, Ran is studying extensively for an exam, and hasn't slept very well. Her mind keeps thinking back to a blurry memory of her and Shinichi, and she keeps thinking about that mysterious man, Shuichi Akai, and about how she believes she has seen him before. Conan is very worried for her health. While at the restaurant, they share a dinner table with another group of guests, because Kogoro didn't read the fine print on a coupon. One of the guests on the table dies.

Inspector Jugo Yokomizo arrives on the scene. Kogoro mistakes him for his older brother, Sango, which angers Jugo, who is not a fan of Kogoro. Because Ran sat near the victim, she is considered a suspect! Conan wants to figure out who the murderer is, not just because Ran is a suspect, but also because she keeps looking more and more ill. Could something bad happen to Ran?

Scenario: Mouri accuses one of Majima's employees who was in debt, but is quickly proven wrong. He then accuses Endou, one of Majima's company managers. The police find a threatening note in the trash from Endou to Majima saying to meet on the roof which seems to implicate Endou further. Mouri says that if Endou tied a rope around the body and used a bow and arrows, it would have been possible to lower the body without a trace. The police go to look for evidence of the arrows and rope, and Conan is shocked when they actually find it because the position the body is in makes it impossible for that trick to have been used. Conan deduces that the culprit is Kiyama-san whose father was murdered by Majima. Kiyama flooded the garden with water and floated the body on an air mat to leave no trace behind.

Inspector Sango Yokomizo arrives on the scene, and begins an investigation. Kogoro accuses one of Majima's friends and workers, Masayuki Hashimoto who was in debt, but is quickly proven wrong. He then accuses Endo, one of Majima's company managers.

Scenario: Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are driving in the mountains when they run out of gas and are kindly picked up by Michiyoshi Majima, the director of Kiyama Furniture Company where they saw the rock garden made by the former director of the company, and met Ayaka Honjo, the housekeeper of Majima's mansiom, Masayuki Hashimoto, his private secretary, Nobuaki Endo, director of Kiyama Interior, and Tomonori Kiyama, a freelance writer of a travelling magazine and director Kiyama's son. Most of the people that work for him and live with him seem to hate him, seem might revenge for Director Kiyama's death, so it isn't a surprise when Majima turns up dead the next morning in the beautiful house rock garden. However, by the dead body, there are no footprints. Could this be an impossible crime?

The Detective Boys hide in the back of the truck with the body and the killer drives to a forest and buries the body. The next day the Detective Boys tell Conan and Mouri about the murder, and Conan is able to tell where the body was buried from the descriptions of what the truck drove past and the culprit is caught.

In an abandoned house, Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta are playing a horror story using store nude mannequins, but Ayumi repeatedly blows the mood because her fear always makes way for amusement at the sight of Mitsuhiko and Genta wielding mannequin arms. They become alarmed, however, when in one of the next rooms they hear glass shattering, and upon investigating, they witness two men calling each other Kurata and Suzuki arguing: Suzuki, apparently wishing to ditch the transportation company he's working for in favor of a better salary, has already diverted some of his company's loyal customers to their rival, Sanada Transportation. The argument quickly escalates into a fight, and while the Detective Boys are at a loss about what to do, one of the men soon lies dead.

The Detective Boys waste no time calling up Conan at the Mouri Detective Agency, but while they do, the killer parks a truck outside and prepares to dispose of the body. Impulsively, they hitch a ride on the truck in order to find out where it will go and are able to escape the culprit's notice as he deposits the body inside, but in the excitement Ayumi has forgotten her Detective Badge, which she had just used to call Conan, and with no time to retrieve it before the killer departs from the scene (and it being the only badge they had brought along), Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Genta have no way of telling Conan about the course of their ride and eventual point of destination.

The ride leads the Detective Boys through an unknown part of the city and out into the mountains, where they become ear witnesses of the culprit burying his victim's body, before they return back to the city. They abandon the truck when it is forced to stop at a red light, and while Mitsuhiko and Genta memorize the truck's license number as it drives away, Ayumi calls up Conan. The next day, Conan, his friends and Kogoro investigate the murder scene and trace the truck to the nearby Kurata Transportation Company, where Genta recognizes one of the men they have seen from a portrait of the company's president, Kurata, hanging in the reception area. The receptionists are also able to identify Suzuki as the company's director, and they also reveal that Suzuki had intentions of starting his own company and as a result has gotten into a harsh argument with Kurata, consolidating the Detective Boys' testimony. In addition, as of this morning, neither Kurata nor Suzuki has been accounted for.

The group finds the truck in question in the firm's parking lot, but a puddle of what the Detective Boys have taken for the victim's blood in the cargo section turns out to be red paint, which makes Kogoro abandon the children in disgust. Conan, however, continues the investigation and begins to backtrack the truck's route and the place where the body is buried from the few pieces of reliable information the Detective Boys have been able to gleam during their nocturnal ride: a branch establishment of a supermarket chain called "White Duck"; a number of certain gas stations they have gone past; a nearby train line; and the point of time at which the truck stopped at an appliance store, remembered by Genta through the climax of a Kamen Yaiba episode that was running on a TV screen inside the store's shop window. They proceed into the mountains and find the body's resting place, but are unaware that the killer has noticed their actions and followed them. And after they dig up the body, a major surprise awaits the Detective Boys.

Scenario: After questioning the 3 suspects Conan still cannot determine who is the culprit, but notices that Haibara is watching the next soccer match on the subway's TV. She empathizes with the player Higo, who has changed from playing for Noir Tokyo to the Tokyo Spirits, but is now hated by both teams. Conan realizes a vital piece of evidence will be on the culprit, and determines that the culprit is the man who is a fake supporter of Noir Tokyo because he has the imprint of the knife on his arm where he was hiding it. Conan goes over to Haibara and tells her that now Higo has scored a goal, his new team is cheering for him. Haibara promises never to run away from fate, and Conan promises to protect her.

Kadotake Akano is stabbed on stomach in a train with Noir and Tokyo supporters.

Scenario: The Detective Boys and Agasa go and watch a soccer game of the Tokyo Spirits vs. Noir Tokyo. On the way back they see a very rude and loud supporter who has gotten kicked out of many stadiums for his crazy behavior. They all get on a train to go home, but as they are exiting to change trains they see the rude supporter fall on the floor with a knife in his stomach. The train was packed so it could have been anybody and no one saw the crime happen, but Conan is able to reduce the suspects down to 3 soccer supporters.

Conan, the Detective Boys, Haibara, and Professor Agasa are all watching a decisive, fever-pitched soccer game involving the Tokyo Spirits and Noir. While everyone walks out of the stadium, they see a game involving Big Osaka on a store television. Haibara takes special interest in a certain player on the team, Ryusuke Higo, because his situation in soccer closely mirrors her own situation with the Black Organization, though she never admits this. He is considered a "traitor" by fans, for going from one team to another, and even fans of his own team boo at him when he makes mistakes.

While Haibara and the Detective Boys are focused on the game, Conan asks Agasa about if he has new information on Chris Vineyard, and learns of a scandal which occured during the burial of her mother Sharon Vineyard. While they watch the game on TV, they spot a man by the name of Kadotake Akano, a self-styled Noir Tokyo hooligan who takes pride on starting trouble and riots during soccer matches. Later on, while everyone is on a train packed with Noir and Tokyo supporters, the hooligan is suddenly murdered, stabbed inside of the train.

Inspector Megure and Detective Takagi arrive on the scene. Conan is able to narrow the suspects down to three people, but can he solve the case? And where did Haibara go? The last scene of the episode shows her walking away from everyone.

When Conan and Heiji leave, they concur that Jodie is someone suspicious, but believe that she is innocuous. Then he gets an angry call from Kazuha, who is mad that he hasn't met up with her for dinner.

Scenario: While at the Professor's, Conan recalls his last meeting with the Black Organization. Conan deduces that another Black Organization member must have been at the hotel party. This is when he finally singles out Chris Vineyard as his suspect. Heiji came to Tokyo to help Conan out with the case. Heiji suspects Jodie-sensei of being a possible Black Organization member, and although Conan seems reluctant to this idea, they pay Jodie-sensei a visit at her apartment. They find out here that her full name is "Jodie Saintemillion". After Jodie agrees to go out for a while with Heiji and Conan, the man living next door to Jodie falls dead outside from over 30 stories, coincidentally as the three are outside. After the police arrive, it seems likely that the man committed suicide. However, Conan and Heiji have a different idea.

Scenario: Takagi loses his badge after breaking up a fight between a manager and his singer. He searches for it with the help of the Detective Boys. They then discover that the singer plans to murder his manager. The detective boys manage to bring Takagi to his apartment and save him before he is killed. The manager picked up Takagi's badge.

He puts Mouri to sleep and tells them the reason those tricks were done. He reveals that the culprit is one of the two suspects and that he is hiding the other suspect too.

Two years ago, a woman was killed at the park near the apartment complex by two men in which one of them has large scar his cheek. The murderers are still on loose.

Scenario: Ran catches a cold and visits the doctor. When there one of the doctor's patients mentions that his apartment is haunted by a girl who was burned to death four years ago. Conan and Mouri decide to investigate. Once there they meet three other people who are living in that apartment.

A haunting supposedly done by the spirit of a dead murdered girl is driving the residents of the apartment out. Conan believes the haunting is being manufactured by one of the residents for some purpose.

Ran who is fearful of ghost tells her father they should leave at 7 pm. When the clock strikes 10:20 pm, Ran wakes up to find a ghost in the television telling her to leave. Mouri and Conan wake up due to her screaming. Mouri tells Ran it was probably a dream and goes to the toilet. After he's done the water turns red. Mouri backs away from the toilet and screams when he sees a ghostly image.

Scenario: The Detective Boys meet an old woman in the park who feeds and takes care of stray cats, and also likes to give the kids quizzes from a puzzle book she has. The next day she doesn't show up to feed the cats, but the cat Bruce comes with the old lady's scarf around his neck. The scarf has a code and blood on it, and to find and save the lady Conan and the gang must solve the puzzle.

The next day, Omori doesn't show up to the park at her usual time. Ayumi gets worried, so they go to Omori's house to check on her. But she isn't there. Yesterday's evening paper is still in the mailbox, meaning she didn't make it home last night. The Detective Boys fear the something bad has happened to her.

The Detective Boys are worried because Ayumi hasn't been hanging out with them lately. But they later discover that an old woman called Shizuka Omori prepares a riddle for Ayumi every day while she is sitting on a bench taking care of stray cats. The next day, the Detective Boys discover that the elder has been kidnapped.

Mr. Ezaki was found dead in his bathtub. Though it seems like an accident, it looked like he was set up to fall on the faucet.

The main suspect is Toshio Mochizuki, the nephew of her first love Ezaki Mochizuki, who died under suspicious circumstances a month prior. Also they discover that a man called Joji Yabuki was mad with the woman because one of the cats always pees in his car.

Scenario: Conan's investigation leads him to discover the meaning of the symbols, right after Jodie-sensei giving him a small hint. Apparently she was watching him through the investigation. He drops hints for Joseph Meguire to deduce what the symbols are. Meguire explains that the symbols are outlines for kanji and □ is bigger than the other three symbols since it was not cut off. He elaborates further, explaining the three symbols are missing the top portion since they were written past the envelope and onto the document. The culprit is revealed to be Bunta Kuniyoshi (国吉文太, Kuniyoshi Bunta), correcting that the bottom of 吉 is usually more round. The police interrogate Kuniyoshi and convict him for the murder after Takagi gathers the shredded pieces of the documents with blood and piece them together forming the missing top portion of ○×△ and fully spelling Kuniyoshi's name. Kuniyoshi confesses explaining he wanted a better life for his poor family. Ran, learning the meaning of X, sends a mail to Shinichi with Xs. Elsewhere, an unknown Black Organization member sends a message to Gin with X's in her message explaining they are a sign of feminine affection but can also be a sign of hate before throwing a dart at a picture of Shiho with an X through it.
