Case Closed
Case Closed, known as Meitantei Conan (名探偵コナン?, lit. Great Detective Conan, officially translated as Detective Conan) in Japan, is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. The series is serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday since February 2, 1994, and has been collected in 73 tankōbon volumes as of September 2011. Due to legal considerations with the name Detective Conan, the English language release was renamed Case Closed.[1] The story follows the adventures of Jimmy Kudo, a prodigious young detective who was inadvertently transformed into a child after being poisoned.Since its publication, Case Closed has spawned a substantial media franchise. The manga has been adapted into an ongoing animated television series by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment; the animated series has reached its twentieth season. The series has spawned three original video animation series, fifteen animated feature films, three live action dramas, one live action series, numerous video games, and many types of Case Closed-related merchandise. A two-hour television special titled Lupin the 3rd vs Detective Conan was aired on March 27, 2009, and featured a crossover with the series Lupin III.
Funimation Entertainment licensed the anime series for North American broadcast in 2003 under the name Case Closed with the characters given Americanized names. The anime premiered on Cartoon Network as part of their Adult Swim programming block and was discontinued due to low ratings. The first six films were released on Region 1 DVD in North America. Viz Media later licensed the manga series for English-language publication in North America and used Funimation's renamed title and cast. As of July 2011, 39 volumes have been published by Viz Media.
Compilation volumes of the manga have sold more than 120 million copies in Japan. In 2001, the manga was awarded 46th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category. The anime adaptation has been well received and ranked in the top twenty in Animage's polls between 1996 and 2001. In the Japanese TV anime ranking, Case Closed often ranked in the top six. Both manga and anime have had positive response from critics for its plot and cases.
Genre
Great Detective Conan is written in the classic detective genre, with classic layout of the murders in the house, and there are countless cases suspect. Covers the way the case was argued solving very typical of the classic text adventure.Plot
Jimmy Kudo is a 17-year-old high school prodigy who frequently helps the police to solve cases. During an investigation, he is attacked by two criminals, codenamed Gin and Vodka, from the syndicate called the Black Organization. They force him to ingest an experimental poison, APTX 4869, which is supposed to kill him, and leave him to die. A rare side-effect of the poison, however, transforms Kudo's body into that of a child instead of killing him.Adopting the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, Kudo hides his identity to investigate the Black Organization. He intends to pretend to be a child until he can find enough evidence to apprehend the syndicate, after which he can then safely find and administer a cure for his current condition. Edogawa enrolls at Teitan elementary school and forms the Junior Detective League with three other children in his class: Amy Yoshida, Mitch Tsuburaya, and George Kojima. To further cover up his activities, he moves in with his childhood friend Rachel Moore, whose father, Richard, works as a private investigator. Kudo continues to solve criminal cases as Conan, but usually poses as Richard Moore with the help of special gadgets invented by his neighbor and friend, Hiroshi Agasa.
Shiho Miyano, a member of the Black Organization and creator of APTX 4869, tries to leave the syndicate after her sister's murder, but is held captive by them. She attempts to commit suicide by ingesting APTX 4869; however, like Kudo, she is transformed into a child. She manages to escape and enrolls in Conan's school under the pseudonym, Anita Hailey. She joins the Junior Detective League and assists Conan in his investigations on the Black Organization. Conan's quest has led him to help the FBI to plant a CIA agent, Kir, inside the Black Organization as an undercover spy.
In 2007, Aoyama hinted he had the ending planned out but he has no intention of ending the series yet.

Episode 1175: The Glassy Water's Surface (Part 2)
Scenario: Inspector Ayanokoji expresses his surprise that he meets the Mouri family again because it just feels like a strange connection (for Ran, he even saved her life once), Conan also expresses his wonder if the seriousness of this case had attracted his attention, to which he assumes so. But since it is quite late at night now, he wants to rest and investigate tomorrow, perhaps as an excuse to go to Nishino's super luxurious ryokan (he comes from a wealthy family after all) to enjoy the hot springs with Maro.
The old case could not be solved when Nishino avoided all the questions related to the death of the two brothers that Kogoro and Ayanokoji asked and it seemed like it would hit a dead end, until the Mouri family sees the arrow mark written in chocolate syrup by Togashi, giving them a glimmer of hope to discover what she was trying to tell Kogoro. This hope is suddenly extinguished when it rains, erasing the syrup marks she left. During that time, Inspector Ayanokoji's team informs them that they find a box similar to the small one stolen at Urasawa Shrine containing the poisonous frog that took Takeshi's life in Nishino's room. However, she tells them with great confidence that if they want to convict her, they will have to disprove her alibis.
Returning to the inn to rest, Ran and Conan discuss the Urashima Taro fairy tale again after the discussion last night when Ran seemed to be still troubled by the recent events. And from the above discussion, the boy discovers an unusual point in the case, so he starts calling the lawyer Hiroki Oi to confirm something while running to the ryokan to ask inspector Ayanokoji to lead him to the island with no population to verify that deduction.

Episode 1174: The Glassy Water's Surface (Part 1)
Scenario: Lawyer Hiroki Oi receives a request from his client, Kanta Tsuji, to investigate the mysterious death of Takeshi Yamaoka, which was said to be caused by the curse of Urashima Taro two weeks ago, and now he entrusts the case to the Mouri family.
On the train to Kyoto Prefecture, where the client is, the Mouri family is discussing the plot of the Urashima Taro fairytale. Urashima Taro is a character who was brought down to the Dragon King's palace by the sea turtle he had rescued earlier to be the main guest of the gratitude party. However, when he returns to the village, several centuries have passed, and all of his friends and family have died.
But one question remains for Ran’s perception: What is the curse of Urashima Taro?
Upon arriving, they begin to hear Tsuji's account of the events two weeks ago: While searching for his missing friend Takeshi Yamaoka with a fisherman named Hironobu Matsuyama; and the head priest of the Urasawa Shrine, Akihide Kamikawa, the three heard a seemingly familiar melody related to the curse of Urashima Taro, and then they discovered Yamaoka's body on a boat with his hair seemingly turned white due to the curse.
Tsuji suspects that one out of the following four people must have killed Yamaoka (He himself is a suspect as well, but there is no reason for him to suspect himself if he didn’t kill him anyways): Matsuyama, Kamikawa, Miku Nishino, and Yamaoka’s ex-girlfriend, Hitomi Togashi. So the Mouri family begins asking them:
- Even though Matsuyama often quarrels with Yamaoka about fishing issues, Matsuyama understands that Yamaoka simply cares about the city, and therefore, he has no reason to be the murderer at all. In addition, he mentions that the island with no population is actually forbidden to enter as it has also been considered sacred ever since the Edo period like the guardian of the other islands, this is because it has protected them from waves and has a shrine for the fisherman who died at sea. And when he is asked if he suspects someone to be the murderer based on conflicts, Matsuyama suggests Nishino for unknown reasons to us.
- Nishino states that she has no conflict with Yamaoka; it’s just that he is her former brother-in-law. So what happened to Yamaoka’s brother?
- Togashi states that she and Yamaoka used to date, but they broke up due to the atmosphere of the island divided by the fishery and tourism, even though it is not as fierce as the Romeo and Juliet story.
- And finally, Kamikawa tells them about the robbery that happened before the death of Yamaoka, as some stolen property was also seen along with the corpse, and he expresses his surprise when they haven’t been informed that Nishino is attempting to kill Yamaoka following the latter’s word before his death. Then he mentions Yamaoka's brother, who mysteriously disappeared 4 years ago on a fishing trip. At the funeral, he did not believe the desperate words of Nishino and suspected that she was the one behind his death.
While the Mouri family is on their way somewhere and is discussing whether Nishino is the culprit, considering the many suspicions pointing to it, the three have been alerted by someone’s watchful eyes, so they begin discussing a countermeasure and learn that the stalker was Togashi. In reality, she only wants to help them, but Kogoro tells her it is too dangerous for her, and advises her to give up on the case. After the three of them left, she mutters that he should have considered the possibility that she might be the culprit because she wanted to get revenge on her ex-lover. Still, she sees another suspect acting similarly to her.
Around dinner time, Conan calls lawyer Hiroki Oi to ask more about the victim and learns that he died from a type of frog's neurotoxin, and that at the two times the two brothers were claimed to die, Nishino was reported by her subordinates to be at her workplace. During dinner, Conan asks Tsuji about Nishino's rumors, to which he replies that the whole city knows that she has a grudge against Takeshi. He also mentions that the reason Takeshi and Matsuyama quarreled was that Takeshi did not want to participate in aquaculture to ensure a stable supply, which ultimately turned out to be a great success. The reason he suspected the head priest was that some stolen property was found with the body.
Then, somehow, Togashi gets Kogoro's number and starts calling him. However, when she reports about a suspicious person saying something like "destroy evidence" to a wall, she is silenced by the suspicious person, interrupting the call between the two. Not the unexpected, but no one expected, the unfortunate girl was silenced forever before she could inform the detective.
A while later, Inspector Ayanokoji (with his chipmunk, Maro, as usual) arrives at the crime scene thanks to a boat from the Kyoto police, much to Conan's contentment.

0 Detective Conan Episode 1173: It's a Ghost!
Episode 1173: It's a Ghost!
Scenario: There have been rumors about a ghost appearing around the TOMO restaurant area for the past two weeks, and that ghost appears again tonight at the rooftop of that restaurant in front of the Detective Boys and a college student who just moved in to live with an old woman named Motoko Kanazawa two weeks ago, Mami Mamiya. Kanazawa tells the Detective Boys and Mamiya that she has also been receiving suspicious calls ever since Mamiya moved in. And when Mamiya is about to see the Detective Boys off, numerous footprints are seen outside the accommodation where she and Kanazawa share.
The Detective Boys take Haibara and Conan to join in with Mamiya at TOMO restaurant so that the two could help them solve the mysteries on the next day. However, there is no result for now as a staff member named Haru Miyake tells them that there is no way to go to the rooftop of the restaurant, while the chef says they have never heard of any rumour like that. Later, the group decides to go to Kanazawa’s accommodation for further investigation, with Conan and Haibara arriving there for the first time and saying hello to the old lady.
In the afternoon at the residence, we learn that Kanazawa was a former chef of a very famous restaurant, and she owns a secret recipe book that Conan saw earlier when he was trying to look inside the window. Both of the above explain why Kanazawa cooks so well, but she also has to deal with people wanting to have a look at that recipe book. Kanazawa's desk phone suddenly rang, which is quite strange as it is just the afternoon. She decides to answer in hope that the people won’t disturb her further just for the recipe, but there is no one answering the call. Suspicions about who made the call turns to scammers when Kanazawa reveals that she had helped the police solve a scam aiming toward her.
So they return to the restaurant and learn how the ghost even appears in the first place, and decide to have Genta and Mamiya pursue the man behind the ghost. Later that day, the two notice a man with suspicious behaviour that turns out to be a door-to-door flyer distributor, Genta also smells something that is familiar with him inside the accommodation. Meanwhile, Conan, Ayumi, Haibara, and Mitsuhiko are wondering why the two have gone so long when a sound nearby catches their attention. It turns out that Miyake took fall damage whilst trying to see why the chef came down from the ladder to the rooftop as he did hear rumours about the ghost. At the same time after Conan goes to the rooftop to check again, Mamiya asks the boys where Genta went as he stated that the beef stew cooked by Motoko felt similar to one from TOMO restaurant. It appears that the chef is the one behind everything, except for the scam, and Genta is in danger as he knew this after tasting that stew. Will the boy be safe?
