Case Closed
Case Closed, known as Meitantei Conan (名探偵コナン?, lit. Great Detective Conan, officially translated as Detective Conan) in Japan, is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. The series is serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday since February 2, 1994, and has been collected in 73 tankōbon volumes as of September 2011. Due to legal considerations with the name Detective Conan, the English language release was renamed Case Closed.[1] The story follows the adventures of Jimmy Kudo, a prodigious young detective who was inadvertently transformed into a child after being poisoned.Since its publication, Case Closed has spawned a substantial media franchise. The manga has been adapted into an ongoing animated television series by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment; the animated series has reached its twentieth season. The series has spawned three original video animation series, fifteen animated feature films, three live action dramas, one live action series, numerous video games, and many types of Case Closed-related merchandise. A two-hour television special titled Lupin the 3rd vs Detective Conan was aired on March 27, 2009, and featured a crossover with the series Lupin III.
Funimation Entertainment licensed the anime series for North American broadcast in 2003 under the name Case Closed with the characters given Americanized names. The anime premiered on Cartoon Network as part of their Adult Swim programming block and was discontinued due to low ratings. The first six films were released on Region 1 DVD in North America. Viz Media later licensed the manga series for English-language publication in North America and used Funimation's renamed title and cast. As of July 2011, 39 volumes have been published by Viz Media.
Compilation volumes of the manga have sold more than 120 million copies in Japan. In 2001, the manga was awarded 46th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category. The anime adaptation has been well received and ranked in the top twenty in Animage's polls between 1996 and 2001. In the Japanese TV anime ranking, Case Closed often ranked in the top six. Both manga and anime have had positive response from critics for its plot and cases.
Genre
Great Detective Conan is written in the classic detective genre, with classic layout of the murders in the house, and there are countless cases suspect. Covers the way the case was argued solving very typical of the classic text adventure.Plot
Jimmy Kudo is a 17-year-old high school prodigy who frequently helps the police to solve cases. During an investigation, he is attacked by two criminals, codenamed Gin and Vodka, from the syndicate called the Black Organization. They force him to ingest an experimental poison, APTX 4869, which is supposed to kill him, and leave him to die. A rare side-effect of the poison, however, transforms Kudo's body into that of a child instead of killing him.Adopting the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, Kudo hides his identity to investigate the Black Organization. He intends to pretend to be a child until he can find enough evidence to apprehend the syndicate, after which he can then safely find and administer a cure for his current condition. Edogawa enrolls at Teitan elementary school and forms the Junior Detective League with three other children in his class: Amy Yoshida, Mitch Tsuburaya, and George Kojima. To further cover up his activities, he moves in with his childhood friend Rachel Moore, whose father, Richard, works as a private investigator. Kudo continues to solve criminal cases as Conan, but usually poses as Richard Moore with the help of special gadgets invented by his neighbor and friend, Hiroshi Agasa.
Shiho Miyano, a member of the Black Organization and creator of APTX 4869, tries to leave the syndicate after her sister's murder, but is held captive by them. She attempts to commit suicide by ingesting APTX 4869; however, like Kudo, she is transformed into a child. She manages to escape and enrolls in Conan's school under the pseudonym, Anita Hailey. She joins the Junior Detective League and assists Conan in his investigations on the Black Organization. Conan's quest has led him to help the FBI to plant a CIA agent, Kir, inside the Black Organization as an undercover spy.
In 2007, Aoyama hinted he had the ending planned out but he has no intention of ending the series yet.

0 Detective Conan Episode 1175: The Glassy Water's Surface (Part 2)
Episode 1175: The Glassy Water's Surface (Part 2)
Scenario: Inspector Ayanokoji expresses his surprise that he meets the Mouri family again because it just feels like a strange connection (for Ran, he even saved her life once), Conan also expresses his wonder if the seriousness of this case had attracted his attention, to which he assumes so. But since it is quite late at night now, he wants to rest and investigate tomorrow, perhaps as an excuse to go to Nishino's super luxurious ryokan (he comes from a wealthy family after all) to enjoy the hot springs with Maro.
The old case could not be solved when Nishino avoided all the questions related to the death of the two brothers that Kogoro and Ayanokoji asked and it seemed like it would hit a dead end, until the Mouri family sees the arrow mark written in chocolate syrup by Togashi, giving them a glimmer of hope to discover what she was trying to tell Kogoro. This hope is suddenly extinguished when it rains, erasing the syrup marks she left. During that time, Inspector Ayanokoji's team informs them that they find a box similar to the small one stolen at Urasawa Shrine containing the poisonous frog that took Takeshi's life in Nishino's room. However, she tells them with great confidence that if they want to convict her, they will have to disprove her alibis.
Returning to the inn to rest, Ran and Conan discuss the Urashima Taro fairy tale again after the discussion last night when Ran seemed to be still troubled by the recent events. And from the above discussion, the boy discovers an unusual point in the case, so he starts calling the lawyer Hiroki Oi to confirm something while running to the ryokan to ask inspector Ayanokoji to lead him to the island with no population to verify that deduction.

0 Detective Conan Episode 1174: The Glassy Water's Surface (Part 1)
Episode 1174: The Glassy Water's Surface (Part 1)
Scenario: Lawyer Hiroki Oi receives a request from his client, Kanta Tsuji, to investigate the mysterious death of Takeshi Yamaoka, which was said to be caused by the curse of Urashima Taro two weeks ago, and now he entrusts the case to the Mouri family.
On the train to Kyoto Prefecture, where the client is, the Mouri family is discussing the plot of the Urashima Taro fairytale. Urashima Taro is a character who was brought down to the Dragon King's palace by the sea turtle he had rescued earlier to be the main guest of the gratitude party. However, when he returns to the village, several centuries have passed, and all of his friends and family have died.
But one question remains for Ran’s perception: What is the curse of Urashima Taro?
Upon arriving, they begin to hear Tsuji's account of the events two weeks ago: While searching for his missing friend Takeshi Yamaoka with a fisherman named Hironobu Matsuyama; and the head priest of the Urasawa Shrine, Akihide Kamikawa, the three heard a seemingly familiar melody related to the curse of Urashima Taro, and then they discovered Yamaoka's body on a boat with his hair seemingly turned white due to the curse.
Tsuji suspects that one out of the following four people must have killed Yamaoka (He himself is a suspect as well, but there is no reason for him to suspect himself if he didn’t kill him anyways): Matsuyama, Kamikawa, Miku Nishino, and Yamaoka’s ex-girlfriend, Hitomi Togashi. So the Mouri family begins asking them:
- Even though Matsuyama often quarrels with Yamaoka about fishing issues, Matsuyama understands that Yamaoka simply cares about the city, and therefore, he has no reason to be the murderer at all. In addition, he mentions that the island with no population is actually forbidden to enter as it has also been considered sacred ever since the Edo period like the guardian of the other islands, this is because it has protected them from waves and has a shrine for the fisherman who died at sea. And when he is asked if he suspects someone to be the murderer based on conflicts, Matsuyama suggests Nishino for unknown reasons to us.
- Nishino states that she has no conflict with Yamaoka; it’s just that he is her former brother-in-law. So what happened to Yamaoka’s brother?
- Togashi states that she and Yamaoka used to date, but they broke up due to the atmosphere of the island divided by the fishery and tourism, even though it is not as fierce as the Romeo and Juliet story.
- And finally, Kamikawa tells them about the robbery that happened before the death of Yamaoka, as some stolen property was also seen along with the corpse, and he expresses his surprise when they haven’t been informed that Nishino is attempting to kill Yamaoka following the latter’s word before his death. Then he mentions Yamaoka's brother, who mysteriously disappeared 4 years ago on a fishing trip. At the funeral, he did not believe the desperate words of Nishino and suspected that she was the one behind his death.
While the Mouri family is on their way somewhere and is discussing whether Nishino is the culprit, considering the many suspicions pointing to it, the three have been alerted by someone’s watchful eyes, so they begin discussing a countermeasure and learn that the stalker was Togashi. In reality, she only wants to help them, but Kogoro tells her it is too dangerous for her, and advises her to give up on the case. After the three of them left, she mutters that he should have considered the possibility that she might be the culprit because she wanted to get revenge on her ex-lover. Still, she sees another suspect acting similarly to her.
Around dinner time, Conan calls lawyer Hiroki Oi to ask more about the victim and learns that he died from a type of frog's neurotoxin, and that at the two times the two brothers were claimed to die, Nishino was reported by her subordinates to be at her workplace. During dinner, Conan asks Tsuji about Nishino's rumors, to which he replies that the whole city knows that she has a grudge against Takeshi. He also mentions that the reason Takeshi and Matsuyama quarreled was that Takeshi did not want to participate in aquaculture to ensure a stable supply, which ultimately turned out to be a great success. The reason he suspected the head priest was that some stolen property was found with the body.
Then, somehow, Togashi gets Kogoro's number and starts calling him. However, when she reports about a suspicious person saying something like "destroy evidence" to a wall, she is silenced by the suspicious person, interrupting the call between the two. Not the unexpected, but no one expected, the unfortunate girl was silenced forever before she could inform the detective.
A while later, Inspector Ayanokoji (with his chipmunk, Maro, as usual) arrives at the crime scene thanks to a boat from the Kyoto police, much to Conan's contentment.

0 Detective Conan Episode 1173: It's a Ghost!
Episode 1173: It's a Ghost!
Scenario: There have been rumors about a ghost appearing around the TOMO restaurant area for the past two weeks, and that ghost appears again tonight at the rooftop of that restaurant in front of the Detective Boys and a college student who just moved in to live with an old woman named Motoko Kanazawa two weeks ago, Mami Mamiya. Kanazawa tells the Detective Boys and Mamiya that she has also been receiving suspicious calls ever since Mamiya moved in. And when Mamiya is about to see the Detective Boys off, numerous footprints are seen outside the accommodation where she and Kanazawa share.
The Detective Boys take Haibara and Conan to join in with Mamiya at TOMO restaurant so that the two could help them solve the mysteries on the next day. However, there is no result for now as a staff member named Haru Miyake tells them that there is no way to go to the rooftop of the restaurant, while the chef says they have never heard of any rumour like that. Later, the group decides to go to Kanazawa’s accommodation for further investigation, with Conan and Haibara arriving there for the first time and saying hello to the old lady.
In the afternoon at the residence, we learn that Kanazawa was a former chef of a very famous restaurant, and she owns a secret recipe book that Conan saw earlier when he was trying to look inside the window. Both of the above explain why Kanazawa cooks so well, but she also has to deal with people wanting to have a look at that recipe book. Kanazawa's desk phone suddenly rang, which is quite strange as it is just the afternoon. She decides to answer in hope that the people won’t disturb her further just for the recipe, but there is no one answering the call. Suspicions about who made the call turns to scammers when Kanazawa reveals that she had helped the police solve a scam aiming toward her.
So they return to the restaurant and learn how the ghost even appears in the first place, and decide to have Genta and Mamiya pursue the man behind the ghost. Later that day, the two notice a man with suspicious behaviour that turns out to be a door-to-door flyer distributor, Genta also smells something that is familiar with him inside the accommodation. Meanwhile, Conan, Ayumi, Haibara, and Mitsuhiko are wondering why the two have gone so long when a sound nearby catches their attention. It turns out that Miyake took fall damage whilst trying to see why the chef came down from the ladder to the rooftop as he did hear rumours about the ghost. At the same time after Conan goes to the rooftop to check again, Mamiya asks the boys where Genta went as he stated that the beef stew cooked by Motoko felt similar to one from TOMO restaurant. It appears that the chef is the one behind everything, except for the scam, and Genta is in danger as he knew this after tasting that stew. Will the boy be safe?

Episode 1171: Why I Became Her Butler (Part 1)
Scenario: On the Shinkansen where Iori is having his ride with Momiji, Heiji, and Kazuha, a drunk man accidentally spills his beer on Iori's sleeves, forcing Iori to wash it in the restroom. There, he notices a phone left behind that is also ringing, he answers the call trying to help the person receiving it back, only to realize that Momiji is dragged into a hostage situation that requires Iori to follow the order of that person or else she will be killed.
The person asks him to wake up a man sitting near the window at the end of the train car no.14, Iori says that he couldn’t wake him up as the person admits his disgusting crime of killing the person, and requests him to take the USB from that person. It appears that the murder was performed accidentally while they happened to see Iori, whom they knew to be a former PSB officer as mentioned earlier, and they decided to use Momiji as a hostage to force Iori to do the dirty job of theirs.
However, they can’t find anything near the victim so the blackmailer suggests that Iori find it in the luggage instead. The luggage has regular items for a normal tourist, except for a blue notebook that has a statement related to Tsuguri’s recent scandal in its last page, which reminds him about the suicide of the man’s secretary. Meanwhile, Momiji’s group was worried that Iori disappeared suddenly for no reason and asked Heiji to check it out, which makes Iori improvise so that he could continue the searching, not knowing that Heiji has been calling Conan to confirm the situation that the group is in.
Iori also gradually comes to the conclusion that the USB may contain evidence that can reveal something about the suicide, and that he himself has met the blackmailer at some point in the past. He recalls an incident three years ago, when he was still a PSB officer.
He was very tired and slightly injured from the fight with numerous scoundrels in the villa of the former prime minister. He decided to use the tie to stop bleeding and have rest is the storage room of the villa where he unintentionally encountered Momiji Ooka, who happened to be safe all along because of her mischievous intentions like any child. At first, Iori planned to have his colleagues escort the girl home safely while he himself would take the desired nap. But not long after, it was interrupted by the presence of three scoundrels with murder intentions on the girl upon learning that the former prime minister was not there all along.
While Iori was worrying about Momiji’s safety, the girl suddenly grabbed his hand in fear and was revealed to have done first aid for wounds of the sleeping officer with many many bandages.

Episode 1170: The Mystery of the Man-Eating Classroom (Part 2)
Scenario: At the Kudo residence, while preparing for the parents’ day visit at school, Yusaku Kudo and Yukiko Kudo recall the time they kidnapped Conan under the disguises of Night Baron and Fumiyo Edogawa, respectively, with the latter having met with Ran and Kogoro before, so they would suspect Conan again if some parent in the class takes a photo showing that the person attending the meeting for Conan is Yukiko instead of Fumiyo. They are also relieved of not having to explain the situation to Shuichi Akai, who is attending the FBI meeting requiring his present, as it could reveal Conan’s true identity, though Yusaku thinks that he could’ve figured it out for a while (and we can confirm that). They also discuss Rumi Wakasa's situation, knowing that she has been in the Teitan Elementary School as class 1’B deputy homeroom teacher to get close to the person who viewed her news posts the most, Conan. Even though Rumi seems to be not too harmful to Conan for now, Yusaku still warns Yukiko to be careful of her, as she will likely do anything to achieve her goal: Revenge. He then wonders why Yukiko comes here rather than just the disguise, to which she replies it is for the tablet.
The fate of today's Parents' Day is unclear; who set fire to the flower bed, and what does Yukiko plan to do with the tablet?

Episode 1169: The Mystery of the Man-Eating Classroom (Part 1)
Scenario: Agasa and Haibara are watching the news reporting the firearm store robbery that happened yesterday when Haibara suddenly asks Agasa if he is free on Wednesday the 16th, to which he explains that he will be teaching one of his acquaintances how to use the remote meeting control from the afternoon to evening, much to her dismay as that could mean that no one will be there for her in Parents’ Day visit at school.
On the Parents’ Day visit at school, Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys are walking to the school, with each of them having different feelings for the day: Ayumi is very excited because her dad is anticipating comparing her height increase, which had been noticed yesterday, with her fellow classmates. Mitsuhiko is excited as well because he wants to perform well in front of his parents. Genta is not, however, as his mom said that she would punish him if he dared to fall asleep in the class ever again. Haibara doesn’t care that much because her parents have gone since she was born. Conan reveals that his mom has returned to Japan by chance and she is going to the class today, much to the Detective Boys’ anticipation. Conan then secretly tells Haibara that his mom insisted on attending the class upon receiving the school announcement (and of course, she will attend under the name of Fumiyo Edogawa). He also expresses with her that he hasn’t grown up even a millimeter ever since he is shrunk and asks if it was due to the APTX-4869, to which she reassures him that it wasn’t even though she is not sure about it herself.
Later, they meet Maria, who is trying to buy an adhesive tape, when they are in a store for some school supplies, it turns out that the girl wanted to tape the timetable that is torn on one side and neglected by everyone in the class, even Kobayashi and Rumi Wakasa. They also happen to meet Takuma, who is buying a new writing pad as he broke the old one after slipping on the brick edge of the school flower bed.
The group begins to pay for the items they have purchased, Haibara's pencil stinger case cost her 258 yen, she pays 1000 yen and receives back 500 coin yen, 2 coins 100 yen, 4 coins 10 yen and 2 yen in change, while Maria’s adhesive tape costs her 302 yen, she gives 500 and receive coin 100 yen, coin 50 yen, 4 coins 10 yen and 8 yen in change.
In a classroom hallway, a boy named Kaisuke Danno is telling some others about a boy who died of choking whilst to avoid being caught sneaky eating red-handed in the class turned into an angry spirit haunting the class of his. It is told that once you step in the haunted class, you will hear a voice saying that: Feed me! Or I will eat you! And to stop the angry spirit from doing that and make it leave for somewhere else, you have to leave snacks at the desk after school. Danno continues by saying that the angry spirit is currently haunting this school, which is not trustworthy to Conan, Mitsuhiko, and Genta, whom Danno has met earlier when he tried buying some snacks before class. Just as the story is on its high note, Kobayashi and Rumi inform the children that class 1’B and 1’A are going to attend the PE class together.
Before lunch time, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko see Maria is not as excited for the parents’ day visit at school as others when they are taking food cart to the class, this is explained as Maria expresses her worries for her mom, who assured to come to the class even though she is in the hospital recovering from a back injury due to having tried so hard to attend their recent recital a week ago. In the class, Takuma does not wait in line for food like others as he is looking at something outside the window, which is later known as he has accidentally spoiled a tulip in the flower bed where he slipped but it is currently noticed by only two girls (and probably Conan as well), but he’d eventually get in line as others and have the meal. While having a meal Danno also has flashbacks of the story that actually happened to him but Genta did not believe him at all.
On lunch break, Mitsuhiko sees smoke outside the window and informs the teacher, Conan also goes to the window and witnesses the tulip flower bed burning for some reason. Just as when Conan, Rumi, and Kobayashi arrive at the flower bed with Conan holding a fire extinguisher, Haibara has already done it by jumping out of the window and using the water from the class flower vase. And just as when the four are discussing how it can burn, Danno interrupts as the curse of man-eating class that no one believed has come true.
Examining the scene shows that a honeysuckle flower pot was accidentally kicked by Haibara when she jumped outside the window, and there is one potato chip under the said pot after being kicked. Conan then recalls the three events, with one of them could be related to the burning flower bed mystery:
- Danno was stopped by Genta when he was trying to buy a package of the same potato chip. However, there are still chances that he had bought it in between and was the one to burn the flower bed to make his rumour more trustworthy.
- Takuma was indeed responsible for the lost tulip as he was scared upon hearing a girl in front of Conan mentioning about the flower bed losing one of its tulips. And he could be the one responsible for the burn of the flower bed as a way to cover up the lost tulip incident.
- Maria’s mom attended the recital that Maria also participated in and is now in the hospital recovering from the back injury. She could be the culprit and the purpose was to postpone the parents’ day visit at school.
The lunch break is over in 30 minutes and just about Rumi is suggesting that they inform this to the principal and the parents, Conan decides to ask the two 10 minutes of it so that he could solve the mystery and continue the event as usual. Then he asks someone to take his notebook and pencil for him so he can make one comparison table of what could the three students do before the flower bed burned, but his pencil suddenly out of stinger so he asks Haibara for one and Takuma volunteers to bring it for him, not knowing about his moist hand when giving the stinger box for Conan until the latter notices this. Next, Conan asks someone to bring him the stopwatch from the family economy class, and a 10 yen coin as there is something wrong with that stopwatch but he suddenly stops as he declares that he has known the one responsible for the flowerbed burning mystery.
0 Detective Conan Episode 1168: Genta's Eel Casebook
Episode 1168: Genta's Eel Casebook
Scenario: A chef named Shigeru Unagizuka, who is also the owner of Ginpachi Unagi Shop, was injured in the leg and could not make a delivery, so Genta decided to help him. He coincidentally meets Conan, Haibara, Mitsuhiko, and Ayumi on the way. Unfortunately, the chef is discovered to be seriously injured by a stab wound to the left side of the chest and is currently being treated in the hospital in critical condition. This makes Genta extremely angry and determined to make the culprit pay for what he has done.
Before that, Takagi has to ask Genta about the time he last saw Unagizuka, the boy answered he arrived here at 3pm and left to help the victim deliver goods at 3:30pm. Later, the boys also learn that Yuya Kurashima found the victim stabbed at 4:30pm when he delivered soy sauce. In addition, Genta remembers that he met a man who was immediately chased out by Unagizuka when he just left the shop holding an envelope with the word Aoiya written on it, so the police, Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys go together to confirm the identity of that person. The man, Hiroyuki Okamoto, had an argument over eel sales outside the victim’s shop. The police also plan to question the last customer who had been to the shop (and luckily they paid by card, so it would be easier to find them) before Unagizuka got stabbed. The last customer, Rio Matsui, recalls that she was at the shop from 3:45 pm to 4:15 pm, and she did not see anyone else suspicious.
At the same time, Genta is hungry because he couldn’t eat the eels he would had after delivering the goods if Unagizuka hadn't been stabbed by someone. Luckily, Rio’s husband would be home late tonight and would be having dinner out, so Genta and his friends are treated to the eels that are probably meant for tomorrow by her. However, when leaving Rio's house, Genta points out something unusual about the eels he and the others had just eaten, so after Takagi leaves, they return to the Ginpachi Unagi Shop to check. There, Genta discovers that the soy sauce used on the eels is different from usual, so everyone decides to ask Kurashima to confirm, and he denies the crime because:
- Ginpachi Unagi Shop stopped using Kurashima's soy sauce since he took over his soy sauce company and if he wanted revenge he would have done it years ago because making soy sauce takes many years.
- Today he went to that shop to let Unagizuka try his newly made soy sauce and saw him stabbed.
Then Genta gets the idea to ask Rio about the eels and who prepared it for her and she says that a very young person wearing a mask made it, and from there, with Genta’s rich knowledge of eels and Conan’s deduction will together reveal the abnormality to point out the culprit.

Episode 1167: The 17-Year-Old Truth (The Queen's Gambit)
Scenario: After bursting into Amanda's room, Kuroda realises that the special guest Haneda said he was going to play chess with was in fact Amanda, so, sensing something is off, he rushes to Haneda's room. There, he finds that Haneda is also deceased. At this time, Rachel wakes up and, under the assumption Kuroda killed Haneda, begins attacking him. In a moment of shock when she sees a photo of Amanda's corpse on Haneda's phone, she lowers his guard and gets knocked out by Kuroda. Rum and his agents outside the hotel see chess notes flying out of the hotel, and Rum deduces that Rachel will be snuck out of the hotel using the bookcase again. However, as they reach Haneda's floor, Kuroda, wheeling a suitcase with Rachel in it, manages to sneak by. After Rum realises that Rachel was in the suitcase, he and his agents get in his car and begin chasing Kuroda's vehicle. However, Kuroda's car ends up being ran into by a truck and his car catches on fire. Seeing the commotion, Rum decides to step away.
In his last moments of consciousness, Kuroda asks an EMT about how the female in his car was, and the EMT says that only he was found, suggesting Rachel escaped before the ambulance got there.
Back in the modern day, as Kobayashi and the children begin to exit the building, Conan realises that Rachel (now Rumi) deliberately swapped her umbrella with Kobayashi's to avoid being noticed, meaning that Chianti and Korn are going to shoot Kobayashi.

Scenario: Possessing excellent memory, Rum accurately identifies all bodyguards seen with Amanda and orders his people to capture and incapacitate them.
Rum also notes that a Japanese man he saw is also a person of interest and orders his agents to also take care of him. However, when attacked, Kuroda is able to take them both down.

Attempted assault |
Having noticed that Rum and his agents are outside the door, Amanda sends Rachel to Haneda's room to retrieve a knight from her chess set to keep her away from the encounter. When Rum comes into the room, he explains that now that they know Rachel is like a daughter to her, the organisation can use that information and now recruit and force her to help them. Rum presents the APTX 4869 pill to Amanda, showing the alternative, but in an unexpected moment, Amanda voluntarily jumps forward and ingests the pill.

Suicide |
After Rachel reaches Haneda's room, Haneda reveals that Amanda likely sent her away on a wild goose chase on purpose, as there is no way that someone would miss the fact that a knight was missing from the chess case because of the specially designed crevices for each piece. Haneda tells Rachel to hide when Rum and his agents knock on Haneda's door, asking if they have seen a Japanese woman. Haneda says no and swiftly shuts the door. He then goes on to taser Rachel and hide her in the bookcase in his room. Rum then comes back again and notices that the order of the books has slightly changed from before and, knowing that Rachel is hidden in there, reaches out to remove the books. Before he gets the chance, Haneda drops his act and tells Rum he remembers seeing him in the news. Haneda is then repeatedly beaten and eventually fed the APTX 4869 pill. Before he dies, he leaves a final message by cutting up a mirror with the text "Put on mascara".

Episode 1165: The 17-Year-Old Truth (The Perceptive Devil)
Scenario: Conan calls Agasa to ask how long it takes for him to bring the item, he answers that he has completed the requested item and it’ll need 10 minutes to get there as well. While at Conan place, Ogawara asks if the three players are out of the suspicious range, with the other two confirming that then the culprit must be Shiratori. The Detective Boys and Haibara justify that he can’t be that kind of person, even though he has curly hair, which makes Shiratori speechless. Conan begins his deduction.
The culprit is Kinji Ogawara.
Victim's final word
Perhap with the knight keychain and when he was murdered by the culprit, he used his brought along magazine and the keychain for his final word, with the bloodstained page acting as the chess board.
Kishitani has a habit of always turning the knight towards him, while the blood stains on the pages of the aforementioned magazine were from both queens; meaning the knight from the queen side had gone to the opponent side, pointing that the bloody handprints is in the king side, while “king side” in Japanese means ousama no gawa or ogawa.
Trick exposed
Agasa comes and speaks about Ogawara’s broken glass trick. Conan continues, first he had his pen with a small hole, then he prepared two glass boxes, each with one Rupert’s drop, in case one is broken; then he shot an arrow that is separable between the body and the arrowhead; finally, he took one drop to the glass with drink and used the pen to break all together, faking that someone had performed a shot to his glass and hit his bag.
Kuroda deduces that Ogawara shot at the vending machine early, tried to end the match with Shiroi early; after he met with others, he sent a message to Kishitani to meet him in the restroom and tore Kunikazu’s jacket, next, he put out a fake “cleaning up” sign and killed the victim then return to the waiting room with others.
Motive
When Ogawara tuned in “Amazing Grace” in the window, only Kishitani looked at his bag until the song stopped, meaning that it was Kishitani’s phone that rang one year ago made Ryoichiyo Saso panic, so he tried to see if it was his phone or not but the song stopped. Even though he was allowed to continue, but others kept suspect him, he eventually committed suicide with a note that the ringtone was not him. It turns out that Saso was just trying to help Kishitani feel calm, but the latter didn’t think like that as he just wanted Saso to feel scared like him.

After the case is over, it is revealed that Kuroda was the one to let Agasa in, as he entrusted him after Conan said that Agasa would demonstrate an experiment that would help solve the case. Before the Detective Boys, Rumi and Kobayashi can go along with him to have lunch as the tournament is now cancelled, Kuroda asks if he can borrow Conan for a while as he has several questions for him. So the sooner group then waits for Conan, without anyone, except Rumi, knowing that they are being watched by a camera, which turns out to be Rum and his subordinate who are giving the target for the elimination for Korn and Chianti.

0 Detective Conan Episode 1164: The 17-Year-Old Truth (The Bloody Knight)
Episode 1164: The 17-Year-Old Truth (The Bloody Knight)
Scenario: On a rainy day, Kogoro decides to reward himself after gaining a lot of money from the investigation, with Wakita asking where Conan could be. As it turns out, he went to the building where the Detective Boys, Rumi and Kobayashi are cheering Shiratori as he is participating in the tournament, with Kobayashi giving him the knight keychain as a lucky charm.
The Bloody Knight
When Haibara and the Detective Boys are discussing the strongest chess piece, Rumi asks her why she knows too much around, in which Conan replies as Agasa taught her how to play chess and other knowledge as well. Later, the group meets up with other tournament participants, including Kurumi Shiroi, Kinji Ogarawa, Naoto Kishitami and Kunikazu Kisaki, with each of them having their own chess piece as a lucky charm. Ogawara mentions that a chess player named Ryoichiro Saso used Amazing Grace as his phone tune, only to be betrayed by the tune itself.
In the tournament, Shiratori faces Kuroda but suddenly someone’s phone rings, causing Shiratori to be distracted and he is then declared lost. However, when the two meet up with Kobayashi’s group, Shiratori loses his lucky charm somewhere, so he has to go back to the tournament to find it. Kuroda then greets Kobayashi and Rumi, he also mentions that he had met Rumi somewhere, even before the event of the burning tent murder case, in which she denies.
In the waiting room, Shiroi, Ogawara and Kunikazu discuss the ringtone played in the match after they hear a strange sound. Later, Ogawara’s glass suddenly breaks when he is going to have his drink, which makes him scream in fear. And apparently, an arrow has flown through his glass and hit his bag. Conan and Kuroda then try to find the culprit’s trace following the open door, and when they pass by a different “cleaning up” sign in the restroom, Conan opens the restroom and sees Kishitani being dead with several arrows in his body. At the scene there are also a crossbow, a magazine, and a knight keychain which Conan confirms it belongs to Shiratori.
Kuroda informs this and Shiratori being a suspect for him, Shiratori explains that indeed he was in the restroom to find the lucky charm, but there was no “cleaning up” sign, and apparently someone was using the restroom as well, so he tried to find it in stairway. He also mentions that he needed to use the phone to inform his butler about the result of the tournament. The Police arrive and begin listening to their report about the incident and deduce that the culprit must have escaped, but Conan deduces that this is not a suicide and the suspects are: Shiroi, Ogawara, Kunikazu and Shiratori, as Kuroda can confirm that no one used the elevator in this floor, and Shiratori was in the stairway when he was looking for the lucky charm.
While Kunizaku expresses that something is wrong when the Police trust a boy like Conan, Kuroda points out that his jacket seems to have a strange tear. Shiroi mentions that they heard a strange sound after returning from the match, and they find an arrow in the wall where they heard the noise.
The Police ask what the suspects had done after leaving the match, Kunikazu was buying drinks in the vending machine after he left the match with the victim when Shiroi and Ogawara showed up, after hearing the noise, he just played game until the glass broke; Kishitani received a message when he was buying drinks like Kunikazu, the message frightened him so he ran away to somewhere; Shiroi was going along with Ogawara until she went to the bathroom to see the match again with earphone, so she didn’t notice much of noise outside; Ogawara says that he also used the restroom when he separated from Shiroi, he noticed one of the toilet but didn’t know it was Kishitani, after using the restroom, he went to the waiting room with others.
When Megure takes the charm out, Conan can finally see the bloodstained side of it, this reminds both Wakasa and Kuroda of something long ago while Conan is deducing. Megure also states that there is a bloodstained crossword page, indicating that the victim may have left his last word there. The Detective Boys and Haibara mention that there were 2 glass boxes in the trash bin, one with nothing, one with shattered glasses. Conan then smiles, indicating that he knows the truth behind.
Outside the building, Rum is seen smiling in his car with his cigarette.
0 Detective Conan Episode 1162: The Case of Ayumi's Illustrated Diary 5
Episode 1162: The Case of Ayumi's Illustrated Diary 5
Scenario: Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys are filming a movie in which Ayumi will write its process into her illustrated diary with the help of Kogoro, the topic of the movie is the case in which Kogoro had captured the graffiti vandaliser. It’s kinda hard to believe that a group of 7-year-old kids can actually make use of editing tools and CG-tech to make the product more convincing, to the point in which it can help win a prize for them and give ideas for Ayumi besides being just a class report.
- The first one is Takagi, who actually received the information of the case from Kogoro as the vandalism is not assigned for Division 1, he recalls that the items left at the scene were two used paint sprayers while the vending machine and many plant pots were smashed with a baseball bat. He also notes that the camera footage were not available due to the paint, the surrounding neighbors couldn’t give effective clues, and the owner of the sabotaged store didn’t know who could’ve done that as well.
- The second one is Chiba, he recalls that the second vandalism is almost identical to the first one as the wall is painted with graffiti while the surroundings were damaged by a baseball bat, and there was no effective clue to help them, even the bicycle tire tracks wouldn't help, as well.
On the third day, however, it is revealed that Kogoro simply caught the vandaliser red-handed when the person was holding a baseball bat and a paint sprayer and was about to perform another vandalism. Mitsuhiko gives the culprit summary to Conan when Ayumi is wondering if they could keep the movie or not, but with Kogoro’s exclamation that he couldn’t do it without others’ help, both would make Conan look at Ayumi’s illustrated diary again and help him know something.
Later, the boys ask Takagi and Chiba to see the Interrogation Tape following under the name of Kogoro and notice some other anomalies that prove he was used:
- Kohei Miki’s appearance has changed drastically in just 6 months.
- Kohei Miki’s appearance has changed drastically in just 6 months.
- The vandalism may have been a cover for disabling the cameras, which would have prevented an impending crime at the Kaneko Jewelry Store where Kaneko had recently abandoned its high-end security system because it did not reduce the risk of robbery (and it was not their fault anyway).
So they go to check Miki’s apartment and find more evidence for the earlier statements and at night, they are seen waiting in the Kaneko Jewelry Store for something, or someone.
0 Detective Conan Episode 1161: The Secret's Afterimage
Episode 1161: The Secret's Afterimage
Scenario: Juzo Megure is standing in front of Mouri Detective Agency with a worried look on his face when he is spotted by Conan Edogawa. Up in the agency Ran Mouri has just returned home when she finds Kogoro Mouri enthusiastically cheering for a horse race, which Kogoro is following over his radio. Kogoro says that he can't help but to listen to horse races because he doesn't have work. Although he ensures Ran that he didn't bet any money on horse races, he says it's because they're completely broke, a detail which is overheard by Conan. Conan has taken Megure up the stairs to the agency, but while Kogoro tries to cover up the situation, Megure doesn't mind it and instead has a much more important matter. He suspects that one of his subordinates is having an affair, and he would like Kogoro to help investigate.
However, dash cam footage recorded three days ago by one of Unit 3's unmarked patrol cars showed Sawatari visiting a high-end jewelry store and buying a bouquet at a flower shop. There is no relevant occasion between Sawatari and his wife to give gifts for, and Megure knows that Sawatari would not give gifts to his wife without a special reason. Since Sawatari is one of Megure's close subordinates, Megure had already approached Sawatari regarding this matter, but Sawatari did not reveal anything. This leaves Megure to trust his police instincts that Sawatari is hiding, and requests Kogoro's help in finding concrete evidence. After all, a police officer engaging in infidelity is subject to disciplinary action, and Megure would like Sawatari to stop before it gets worse.
Kogoro explains that the established method of investigation for these cases involves searching through the suspect's notebooks, phone, bank statements, and credit card records, as well as installing voice recorders and bugs in they're home. All of these methods requires Sawatari's wife's cooperation, but Megure would not like Sawatari's wife to know about this as it could hurt her feelings. Conan suggests examining Sawatari's P-III, a smartphone-like police radio, and its GPS records, but Megure says that doing so would attract the attention of the higher-ranked officers. This leaves the option to conduct stakeouts and tail Sawatari, and Megure agrees to assist, being that he is currently off-duty. With that decided, Ran is prompted to turn into the detective agency's receptionist and offers Megure a list of charges in an attempt to earn money for the family.
Conan asks Megure if Division 1 has computers or not, to which Megure confirms yes. Then Conan wonders if the search history contains words like “hotel”, “cheating”, “divorce”, or “damage”, then they are investigating in the way that Sawatari is guilty while he could actually be innocent. This surprises him as to why Conan knows these, with him covering that it was Shinichi who taught him, but Megure still proceeds to check the search history. Meanwhile, Ran is seen worried if her father knows how to use a digital camera or not, with him stating yes before going for a stakeout alone. Then Conan decides to look at the footage from the said car with Ran. There, he points out that Sawatari went in and out of the jewelry store in just 5 minutes, which is unusually fast, so they hire a taxi to probably go to that jewelry store.
When the two arrive at the said jewelry store, they happen to see Detective Sawatari actually going out with a woman, but Conan soon has to improvise as Kogoro’s method of stakeout almost causes him to be revealed. There is nothing too intense for now, but Kogoro and Conan can’t be seen by Sawatari again while they are in the store, so Ran has to be the one to get in and gather information. Soon after, she informs them that the woman is having her finger measured for the ring. Kogoro receives a call from Megure confirming that the search history does not have any words that Conan mentioned before, but Sawatari did view disciplinary actions, which are the MPD internal regulations including infidelity. Considering the circumstances, there is a chance that Sawatari is guilty, but there isn't any decisive evidence yet.
At that time, Sawatari and the mysterious woman are seen coming out from the store by Conan, so Conan pretends to fall near Sawatari so the boy can put a transmitter on him. Before Kogoro and Conan continue to follow the two, Conan asks Ran to visit the flower shop where Sawatari had visited to see which flower bouquet he bought. As soon as Conan receives the information, he goes somewhere after telling Kogoro not to get too close to them. Later, when Sawatari is giving the ring to the woman, he is caught red-handed by Megure and Kogoro, with the latter having taken pictures of him. Surprisingly, Sawatari apologizes for doing things unworthy of the title of the police, but before Megure and Kogoro can get the answer about the relationship between Sawatari and the woman, Ran and Conan step in and reveal the sad truth behind it.
0 Detective Conan Episode 1159: The Whereabouts of the Goodbye
Episode 1159: The Whereabouts of the Goodbye
Scenario: On a Sunday morning, Yusuke Sakon can’t contact his girlfriend Aki Kano while he is on his way there, so he asks the building manager of her apartment Hayashi to help open her room after he knew that the door was closed, only to find out that Kano is dead. The police arrive after and notice that there is a coffee cup containing cyanide and Kogoro’s investigation report nearby, causing him and Conan to arrive at the scene not long after.
![]() |
The police rule her death as a suicide, even though no suicide note was left behind. Yet all other evidence points to a suicide, but is this really the truth? |
Kogoro confirms that 10 days ago, he was hired indirectly by a person named Yamada on behalf of Kano to do the requirement he received the next day to investigate if her boyfriend Yusuke Sakon cheated on her or not, to which pointed out a specific woman named Michiru Kuga. At first, it appears that Kano was so desperate upon knowing this that she committed suicide using the coffee cup containing cyanide, with some evidence even support this:
- The security of where she worked mentioned that she came in yesterday though the place should’ve closed while the head Chemical researcher of that place Tadashi Otsubo reported that the missing amount of cyanide was enough to kill a person.
- Last night, Kano went out to meet her best friend Hiroko Nishida for apparently a farewell
But her search on the phone feels odd as two out of three words are: stalker and manslaughter, so Conan and Kogoro decide to ask some of her accomplices:
- Firstly, Otsubo mentions that Kano was followed by a man wearing sunglasses and masks sometimes. However, the most shocking thing is that she committed suicide before the publication of her most anticipated research results, which is Monday.
- And for Nishida, she immediately asks the two about if it was because of Sakon’s infidelity that caused Kano’s death without answering if she had been told about the stalker from her friend, to which causes Kogoro to wonder about after telling his thoughts. Nishida states that this is unusual as if Kano ever catches him (or any love interest) cheating, she will try to break the affair while in reality, she committed suicide without doing anything else.
Suddenly, Conan reminds Kogoro to inform Kano’s death to the one named Yamada, only for the two to discover through a camera footage nearby that he was in fact, Sakon. So the two arrange a meet up with Megure, Chiba, Takagi, and Sakon to reveal the truth behind.
