Episode 219: The Gathering of the Detectives! Shinichi Kudo vs. Kaitou Kid

Scenario: Kaitou Kid stands on top of the Tokyo Tower with his assistant, Konosuke Jii. He discusses the time he was almost caught by a famous detective in the east, Shinichi Kudo.

The Phantom Thief Kid stands on top of a building with his butler. He discusses the time he was almost caught by a famous Detective in the East, Shinichi Kudo. He plans to "steal" the clock tower. Although, he leaves it standing with a code upon its hands, saying "I will not give this clock to anyone". After the reminisce, Kid plans to steal the priceless gem of the Suzuki Corporation: the Black Star. Afterwards, Kogoro has been invited to a detective meeting by an unknown assailant who sends him money. There are six detectives there excluding Conan. They are in a house in the isolated Shizuoka Prefecture mountains, an Inaka Village[6] at 2 km from Okuno Dam[7] and six miles from a lonely gas station, where a massacre happened forty years ago.

One of the detectives are killed and they are stranded in the mansion as the bridge has been cut and the cars have been burned. One by one, the detectives seem to be dying and Rachel and a maid are attacked.

At Ekoda High School, Kaito is reading the newspaper about Kaitou Kid's next job and he's pretty happy about it. Aoko took the newspaper away from Kaito and tear it into tiny pieces while getting mad about Kaito taking Kaitou Kid's side. Kaito got all the newspaper pieces while talking to Aoko about not liking Kaitou Kid because her father is the inspector who always lose to Kid. Kaito counts to three and the newspaper appears. Aoko was surprised. That night, Kid plans to "steal" the clock tower.

Ginzo Nakamori got every policemen ready to capture Kaitou Kid around the clock tower, and told all the policemen to report anything suspicious going around.

Ikumi uses a Beretta 418 gun to pierce Hakuba's heart.

Secretly, Detective Senma, an elderly lady, has been watching through the surveillance cameras and Conan sends her a message claiming to be the seventh detective. She arrives at the place Conan asked to meet her at and he reveals the truth about both this and the case from forty years ago. Afterwards, he reveals that the entire mansion is made of gold, as it was named Sunset Mansion.

Kogoro has been invited to a detective meeting by an unknown assailant who sends him money. There are six detectives there excluding Conan. They are in a house in the isolated mountains of Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, where a massacre happened forty years ago.

Harufumi shot Kogoro in his left armpit with a Browning Hi-Power

One of the detectives are killed and they are stranded in the mansion as the bridge has been cut and the cars have been burned. It also appears that the unknown assailant is using the name Kaitou Kid.

Harufumi smokes the poisoned cigarette and suffocates from aconitine.

Later, as they leave via helicopter, Detective Senma jumps down from the helicopter and Kogoro jumps down on her, revealing his identity as the Phantom Thief Kid.

Scenario: It is revealed that all the victims were in their cars before being attacked. Sonoko, wearing platform boots, goes to use the bathroom, unaware of the killer following her. Conan gives his theory and declares that Yoshio Sadakane is the killer; since he is a security guard, he can observe who was wearing platform boots. Due to Tae being a minor when she killed Akira, Yoshio could not track her name and address due to the law. He became enraged and attacked any girl fitting Tae’s physical description. Yoshio prepares to murder Sonoko but Megure shields her and takes the blow to the head. After receiving a stern lecture about his actions and crime from a profusely bleeding Megure, Yoshio confesses; all he wanted was for Tae Aizawa to apologize for killing his son, Akira. Afterwards, Megure reveals a case in the past which is why he was so anxious. In the past a man was attacking girls with long skirts and a girl offered to be a decoy; she was badly injured along with Megure, leaving scars on both of them. The girl is revealed to be Midori, Megure's wife in the future.

The investigation continues, and when the policemen accidentally drop Aizawa's shoe and cannot put it back on since it doesn't fit, Conan deduces that the killer took her shoes away to hide how he was tracking and attacking girls with similar footwear. Since all of the girls attacked were gyarus, he also deduces that Aizawa was using platform boots, which are very popular among them. Sato hears this and says that a year ago, in the incident that took the life of little Akira Sakurai, Aizawa was supposedly wearing platform footwear; the boy's parents told this to the judge and said that was the reason why Aizawa didn't step properly on the brake and ended up hitting him. Supposedly wearing these boots cause the brake to take longer time. Megure sends out Takagi to find more info about the accident, and then tells the others to seek for the culprit who is still not too far from them.

After discussing some more details, Takagi returns and confirms the information already given. Conan and Ran see that Sonoko isn't with them; Ran mentions that Sonoko was supposed to go to the car and then to the restroom, and then Conan realizes that Sonoko was wearing platform boots, like all the victims. Ran calls Sonoko to her cellphone, and Sonoko says she's looking for a safe way out since the lights are out.

Scenario: Michiko Ishiguro is gravely injured when a man bashes her in the head with a metal bat as she leaves a phone booth. Later that day, while accompanying Sonoko on her shopping spree, Kogoro is mistakenly attacked by Sato, Megure, and Takagi as part of a stakeout. They inform Kogoro about a serial offender attacking gangarus. According to the victims’ testimony, their attacker stood at 150 centimeters tall. Kogoro mentions a similar case 20 years ago where female high school students were run over, shocking Megure. At the department store’s underground parking lot, Ran discovers Tae Aizawa dead. Tae fits the demographic of the past victims. It is revealed that Tae was involved in another case where she struck and killed a boy named Akira Sakurai. Suspects in Tae’s murder are her boyfriend Noriyuki Shirakawa, his father Haruyoshi, Yuri Konno, and security guard Yoshio Sadakane. When Conan provides useful points, Sato dresses up in her decoy outfit and Megure snaps at the idea, causing Conan to wonder why.

Ran found the dead body.

The episode starts with a dark-skinned young lady in a phone booth at night, speaking to someone over the phone. Right after she is done calling, and when she was getting ready to return to her nearby car, a man dragging a club comes up from behind her and knocks her out with it.

The next scene shows Ran and Sonoko shopping for a sweater as Sonoko wants to buy for Makoto Kyogoku; Sonoko gets scolded by Ran when she learns that Sonoko wants to make it pass as if she had knitted the sweater for him. Kogoro and Conan left the girls to do their shopping, and while crossing the street Kogoro notices a good looking girl coming out of a phone booth. Conan notices that she left a ball-point pen in the booth so Kogoro grabs it and went to the lady to give it to her. As Kogoro touches her, she tackles him to the ground; Inspector Megure, Wataru Takagi and two other police officers come out and jump on Kogoro without realizing that it is Kogoro.

After they find out it is Kogoro, they all go to a pasta shop and explain the case to Kogoro. It is also shown that the lady who attacked Kogoro was Miwako Sato, posing as a decoy. They show him pictures of the three different victims (Ryouko Mizutani, Hitomi Endou, and Michiko Ishiguro - the girl from the first scene): all of them are young women with bleached hair, fashionable clothes and deep tans, and according to their testimonies the man attacking them was around their own height, meaning around 150 cms tall.

Sonoko arrives to the pasta shop right then and upon seeing the girls's pictures she identifies them as Ganguro, girls who change their looks drastically to look fashionable and exotic and as a way to rebel against Japanese society. After being unable to figure out a relation between the victims other than their looks, Kogoro brings up a case about a string of female high-school students being hit by cars, which happened twenty years ago. Inspector Megure looks shocked, stands up and says they should get back to the investigation.

As Inspector Megure is about to leave, he tells Sato and Takagi that they should start at the beginning. Then Conan spots something else similar to the three victims and Sonoko: they all are wearing rather fashionable jewelry pieces that are given as a gift in a particular shop if you spend 10,000 yen or more there. Megure approaches her, checks on the jewels Sonoko's wearing and compares them to the photos: all of the girls are at least one piece of the jewelry set, though Sonoko has them all due to having purchased lots of stuff there.

Sonoko calls Ran to ask where she is. She says she's in a parking lot and then she screams in terror because she has just found another victim. Said victim is a 20 year old girl named Tae Aizawa, who used to work at the same store: again, a very young woman with bleached hair, tanned skin, and wearing the special jewelry gifts. Unlike the others, however, Aizawa is actually dead.

The victim's boyfriend, arrives to the crime scene. His name is Noriyuki Shirakawa, he works as a cook in the convenience store owned by his dad, and he had asked Aizawa to meet up with him so they'd reunite with his dad. Some possible suspects gather in the scene: Shirakawa's father Haruyoshi (who opposed to him and Tae's relationship), the waitress Yuri Konno who also was a friend of Noriyuki Shirakawa, and a guard named Sadakane who used to work for another convenience store, whom Haruyoshi Shirakawa accuses of being the killer to ruin the store's reputation. He then also tells his son to get a new girlfriend, one "with a clean slate". Yuri Konno then explains that Aizawa was related to another case a year ago: she accidentally hit a young boy named Akira Sakurai with her car in the parking garage and killed him, thus she renounced to her job and was searching for another before she died.

Among the investigation questions, Noriyuki freaks out when his father is mentioned as a possible suspect for the case in general. He snaps and tells the police "You are all useless!" in horror and frustration. Upon hearing Noriyuki's words, Megure goes into a shocked state and remembers a very young woman saying the same phrase in tears, as well as saying "Why are you suprised? I said I was going to play decoy." Then the woman's face in his memories is shown again, except she's bleeding profusely and says "Guess... it didn't go as smoothly as in the movies." Megure drops to his knee and looks like he has a headache; he says it's nothing when Kogoro and Sato show concern, and Yuri offers apologies before taking Noriyuki away, but Conan suspects something.

Conan then brings up other points. First, only Mizutani (first victim) and Ishiguro (third) could offer reliable descriptions, since Endou (second) was attacked from behind and couldn't see who attacked her. Second: the girls weren't wearing much, even though it was freezing and at night, meaning they were in the way to their own vehicles where either was warmer or they had their coats. Sato says she will wear the decoy outfit she wore before and exit her car, in case she can do more. Inspector Megure then shouts "Didn't I say no more decoys!?" Superintendant Matsumoto arrives and asks if it's "that case" from before. Megure denies it and Conan thinks something is strange with him.

Scenario: Conan believes that Kumada was met with foul play. He also finds out that a boat and anchor were stolen right before Kensuke's boat capsized. After visiting Masahiko’s house, gaining insight from witnesses, and finding a dog house sign on the property, Conan puts Kogoro to sleep, deducing that the killer drugged Kensuke while he was out with Kumada. The killer disguised themselves as Kumada, lowered an anchor into the sea attached to the boat, then waited for the tide to rise. When this occurs, the anchor weighs the boat down making it capsize, and the unconscious Kensuke sinks to the bottom of the sea and drowns. Kumada was murdered in a similar fashion; he, too, was drugged and was pulled up via a noose around his neck. The killer is Yaeko Kamei, Kensuke’s caretaker; her real name is Tamiko Tsuruta, and in turn, is revealed to be Masahiko’s mother, the man who was murdered by Kumada. Evidence supporting these theories is how Yohan knew Yaeko even through her disguise. Yaeko confesses and though the case went to trial, Kensuke, knowing every detail in Masahiko’s death, acquitted Kumada of the murder for profit. She is arrested for her murders.

Conan discovers that, five years before, a man was killed in a "perfect crime" by the man who had killed himself, with the initials "T.K.". Conan uses this clue, as well as other clues via help from an old boat rental owner, to deduce how the lawyer was killed. He then visits the old home where the man who was killed five years before lived with his mother and his younger brother, and gets information from an old lady there, and discovers a dog house sign that says "Johann". Conan had finally figured it out who the real murderer is.

Scenario: While Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are driving near the ocean, their car breaks down, prompting them to ask for help at a house which belongs to famous lawyer Kensuke Tachibana. There, they meet secretary Yuuichi Sakuraba, his caretaker Yaeko Kamei, his wife Yuki Tachibana, his office's accountant Noriko Sugimura, and lawyer Fumio Fujisawa. As the day progresses, Kensuke explains to Kogoro that he’s been receiving threatening letters from someone with the initials “T.K.” Their dog, Yohan, has been acting weird. Kensuke leaves for his fishing trip, while the gang walks Yohan who continues acting strange when a suspicious person is seen riding a boat. Suddenly, Kensuke’s boat capsizes and he drowns to death. They find out that Kensuke was killed by someone with the initials T.K. which later stands for Tatsuya Kumada, who had been sending threats to him. Five years ago, Kensuke acquitted Tatsuya of the murder of a man named Masahiko Tsuruta who was found hung in his house. Tatsuya is believed to be the killer. The investigation team rushes into his apartment and are horrified to find Kumada, their prime suspect, hanging from his ceiling.

While driving on a family trip in Chiba, Kogoro's car breaks down. They stop by a house on the bay, where Kogoro, Ran, and Conan meet the famous lawyer Kensuke Tachibana and his secretary Yuuichi Sakuraba, and later they meet his caretaker Yaeko Kamei, his wife Yuki Tachibana, and his office's accountant Noriko Sugimura and lawyer Fumio Fujisawa. Tachibana is getting threatening letters from a man with the initials "T.K." The next morning, the dog Yohan is acting strangely. Tachibana leaves the house for a fishing trip, while Kogoro, Ran, and Conan walk the dog. It reacts wildly when it sees a suspicious person in a red hat, on a boat. Later that day, Tachibana's boat is found, halfway sinking, and his body is found deep in the ocean.

A local detective and his assistant arrive at the scene, and the man with the initials "T.K." is found out to be Tatsuya Kumada, an old client of the lawyer, and becomes the number one criminal. However, when they go to his apartment, they find him dead, seemingly hanging himself in a suicide. However, the clues say otherwise. Could someone have killed both the lawyer and the client?

Scenario: Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are attending a dolphin show when a murder occurs in the hotel. The hotel room where the murder occurred was specially designed to be retro one. The clue to the murder is an automatic television that when inserted with a coin, will play for an hour. Conan reveals how the culprit used that to fake their alibi.

When Kuniko Yamamoto, Kaori Obayashi, and Kanami Kaneda went to Fujimaru's room, they found Fujimura stabbed in her chest.

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are in a train station where they meet Kuniko Yamamoto, a clothing designer, Kaori Obayashi, a travel agent, and Kanami Kaneda, a housewife. The three of them are going to Dolphinland, a dolphin-themed amusement park, to visit Naomi Fujimura, a children's clothing designer. When the three women go to Naomi's room, Kogoro wants to go but refused by Ran, but they hear the three women screaming, and find Naomi dead.

The police go to the murder scene, a retro room. Conan notices an ice cream bar, candies, Naomi's pepper spray and a coin-operated television. Conan discovers the trick of how to insert the coin in the TV set without using hands. Conan still suspects the three women, but each one of them have a strong alibi.

They found Genta, and three hunters decided to help them look for Ai and Mitsuhiko. Once Genta is found, three hunters decide to help them by looking for Haibara and Mitsuhiko.

Scenario: Conan searches for clues to who murdered the Headmaster busily and finally figures out the trick that was used:the killer swam underneath the bridge and stabs the victim and ties him in a complicated fisherman's knot that when the waterwheel turns, the body would be lifted up to the ceiling of the beam that would make it look like a suicide. The suspect's reason for killing the Headmaster is to stop him from officially announcing his son, Roichi, from becoming the next Headmaster, which he claims the Headmaster betrayed him since they were selling counterfeit expensive ceramics for the past ten years.

Inspector Yokomizo confirms everyone's alibi and Kogoro interrupts by saying everyone was together an they witnessed the murder with their own eyes, so it is not possible for someone to murder the headmaster. Conan grows more and more suspicious and finally figures out the trick and solid evidence. He then stuns Kogoro and begins his deductions.

Scenario: Kogoro, Ran, and Conan go on a trip as the substitutes for Sonoko and her father, the president Suzuki, and attend a tea meeting at the Aonogi family house. They visit the mansion, backyard included, where there is a pond that shines in five colors, and a bridge which leads to the tea room. While enjoying watching the pond’s colors, the headmaster dies in the tea room, the same way as in an urban legend.

However, being a demon and not a merely human, she can't dead for a simple wound.

There is a superstition of the pond. They say that it was during the end of the Edo period. Fresh, clean, cold water sprang out from the pond. It was even bigger than it is now. A beautiful girl appeared by the pond. As she played her flute, the color of the pond changed. She entertained the people who came. One day, a rich merchant became interested in the girl, and built a mansion near the pond. She accepted his proposal of marriage with two conditions: that the pond belonged to her, and no one was ever to go in it. Yet, the merchant broke his promise, and made a bedroom in the middle of the pond. In addition, he became angry at his wife who pressed him to clear the room away immediately. He killed her, and drowned her in the pond.

However, one night, the boa that appeared from the lake attacked the merchant. It was the girl in her true form, the immortal demon who lived in the pond. Terribly wounded and with great difficulty, the merchant went in the bedroom. In the bedroom, there were talismans. He was safe.

Still, the demon waited for him to come out. He got tired and hung himself. They say the reason why the colors change, is because the demon takes the girl's appearance and plays the flute.

Episode 209: The Falling from Mt. Ryushin Case

Scenario: The Junior Detective League excluding Ai, are traveling through a winding path on Mt Ryushin. There they witness a derailed car fall off the mountain. The man has died and through the evidence, Conan concludes another car rammed into that car. Conan decides to leave it to the police as they are trained for basic cases. Mitch finds a code from the car wreckage which he assumes has nothing to do with the incident because he presumed it was a normal accident. He hides it from Conan since he wants to solve it himself. Later at the cabin, he solves the code and takes Amy and George with him. There where he thinks is treasure, is culprit who caused the accident's hide-out. Conan and the Professor return to the cabin to find the kids missing. Conan solves the code quickly and arrives with the cops in time before the kids were murdered. Mitsuhiko, while chopping wood with Ayumi and George as punishment, complains how Conan solved the code so easily, while he only figured it out because it was in the book he was reading.

While the Detective Boys and Agasa watched the scenery, a silver car plunged over the side of the mountain.

The Detective Boys, excluding Haibara, are traveling through a winding path call Tsuzuraori Pass on Mt. Ryujin in the Nishitama District. Ayumi is amazed by the scenery and Professor Agasa tells her that they are barely halfway to the top of mountain.

Agasa then tells Conan and the others about the Tsuzuraori Pass being famous and that it has 99 turns, causing Genta to feel sick after hearing about it. Later that day, they witness a car falling off the mountain. Conan rushes to the scene while asking Agasa to call the police and an ambulance. He starts investigating.

While the police is questioning Agasa, Conan investigates and notices dents at the back of the trunk. A police officer asks Agasa if he saw any suspicious people or vehicles, to which he replies no.

Conan asks the police officer if he can go and see what the other investigators are doing, but he replies that it's not something that children should see. Still, Conan manages to enter the crime scene, and notices the tire tracks. The forensics estimated the tire tracks to be 16.33 meters long and discovered a dark blue paint chip, concluding that another car had rammed into it.

Conan concludes that it wasn't an accident, but a murder, and searches for clues. Mitsuhiko finds a code from the car wreckage, but hides it from Conan because he always wants to solve the case by himself. After sharing the code with the other Detective Boys, they conclude that the code could be a treasure map.

Scenario: Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are invited for a ceremony for a ropeway which is built through a giant Goddess Statue on the mountains by Doumouto Guze. They learn that there is a rumour about a curse by the goddess' anger and Kogoro was invited to disprove it. After riding through the ropeway on the opening day, Doumouto, who has disappeared from the ropeway cart, is later found dead on the goddess' hand. Conan realizes the trick for this impossible crime after checking the incinerator of the house near the statue. Conan reveals that their hostess was the murderer, who used Doumouto's trick against the news reporters against him. After completing his disappearing trick, he would've disproved of the curse by ruining the newspaper's reputation, but was stabbed. The culprit reveals that Doumouto divorced her mother and left her in debt. Her brother died because he forced his workers to complete the ropeway in a short amount of time.

During the short time inside the tunnel, Eizo was attacked by someone. There was a sound of someone chanting and a talisman on the window. By the time that the ride is out of tunnel, Eizo was seen stabbed on the Goddess's hand! Is the the punishment from the goddess herself like what Shizuka Kamiyama said?

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are invited for a ceremony for a ropeway which is built through a giant Goddess' statue on the mountains by Eizo Domoto. They learn that there is a rumor about a curse by the goddess' anger and Kogoro was invited to disprove it. Shizuka Kamiyama the nun was the constant protester of building the ropeway. After riding through the ropeway on the opening day, Domoto, who has disappeared from the ropeway cart, is later found dead on the goddess' hand.

Conan finds out the man is lying and is trying to trick Kogoro into proving his false allibi.

One night, Ran and Conan search for Kogoro in a bar, and accompany him back home. While walking, they hear a fight in an apartment. The next day, a murder in the same apartment is reported. One of the man who was heard arguing comes to Kogoro for help to prove his innocence. The man has made good suggestions on where to find evidence which are in fact too good.

Scenario: After Ai reveals the pattern of the arsonist attack, Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko run into the arsonist who attempts to kill them. Takagi is revealed to be inside the warehouse the arsonist set fire to. He can't break the handcuffs due to them being a memento from Miwako's dead father. Conan manages to arrive in time and stop the arsonist, but does not realize Takagi is in the burning warehouse. Meanwhile, the clock strikes midnight and the suspected bank robber explains everything to Miwako, saying how his father saved his life. Miwako reveals that due to the typhoon in Italy, the annul date was moved forward by one day. Takagi seemingly dies but appears with his handcuffs attached to the window bars. He collapses in Miwako's arms.

Scenario: After Ai reveals the pattern of the arsonist attack, Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko run into the arsonist who attempts to kill them. Takagi is revealed to be inside the warehouse the arsonist set fire to. He can't break the handcuffs due to them being a memento from Miwako's dead father. Conan manages to arrive in time and stop the arsonist, but does not realize Takagi is in the burning warehouse.

The robber killed a security officer while escaping from the bank.

Meanwhile, the clock strikes midnight and the suspected bank robber explains everything to Miwako, saying how his father saved his life. Miwako reveals that due to the typhoon in Italy, the annul date was moved forward by one day. Takagi seemingly dies but appears with his handcuffs attached to the window bars. He collapses in Miwako's arms.

Takagi was attacked with a blunt object while talking with Sato on the phone about the Shushiro case.

A serial arsonist sets huge fires across the city and Takagi and Sato with the Detective Boys are out to solve it. It turns out this is also the day the case of Sato's father's death will be annulled, and the bank robber will be able to keep the money he/she stole from the bank. Sato sets out to solve both cases before the day ends, but Takagi has been attacked by the arsonist.

Scenario: Conan notices that this is not a suicide but a murder. He later proves that the culprit hang-glided to the hotel and went back by stowing in the trunk of a car. The culprit reveals that the actress caused his brother to spend much money and indirectly caused his death. He reveals he tried to ask the actress to say a few words on his brother's grave but she refused and he decided to kill her.

After investigating in the crime scene, Conan understands that Bizen's death wasn't a suicide, but a murder. He collects pieces of evidence, gets Kogoro asleep, and solves the case.

In Greek Mythology, Icarus, who received wings, forgot his father's warning that he shouldn't fly too high, and flew higher and higher. He believed he could fly to the sun. But Icarus' wings couldn't bear the heat when he got too close to the sun. After his wings burned, Icarus fell from the sky right to the ground.

Scenario: Ran reveals that the person who ran past her after Funaki was killed was Yabe. Kogoro catches him but Yabe maintains his innocence. Conan gathers information from Kinu and Dr. Agasa who he had do research, discovering that two men, Kouhei Moritsugu and Youichi Tezukadi, died in the tragic bus accident 7 years prior. After learning that the bus has departed, Conan and Kuni rush over to try and stop it. Conan hops on board and reveals the killer to be the bus guide, Touko Natsume; her real name is Natsume Moritsugu and she is Kouhei’s daughter. Natsume plans to murder everyone involved by tampering with the bus’s brakes because they didn’t help her father who died as a result. Kinu was an intended victim but Natsume spared her because she apologized at her father’s memorial. It is revealed that Okumura was at home sick and had nothing to do with past incident. Conan manages to stop the bus from crashing with his suspenders. The other passengers apologize as Natsume is arrested.

Conan continues investigating. A search for Yabe is organized by Kogoro and the policemen. Kogoro manages to find him, and he gets questionned in a police station nearby. Conan calls Professor Agasa, and asks him to search something for him on the Internet.

Scenario: Conan, Ran, and Kogoro are riding a bonnet bus, driven by bus operator Mamoru Kajita and guided by Touko Natsume, through the mountains. On the bus already is the president of the Kagekura youth club, Takurou Yabe. The bus stops to pick up other travelers including Souchiki Okumura, who forces Kogoro out of his seat. He argues with Yabe then drinks from his water bottle and collapses dead from poison. Conan declares murder as a tiny hole is found in his bottle. Yabe is instantly blamed and questioned. A brawl between people of the opposite sides sparks but is stopped by Ran. The village’s mayor, Takehiko Funaki, declares Yabe innocent and offers a million yen to Kogoro if he can solve the issues; Kogoro investigates, but no one cooperates with him. Later that night, Conan follows the inn hostess, Kinu Komai, to a memorial where she apologizes. Mayor Funaki is stabbed to death at the shrine, bumping into Ran in the process.

While doing a bus tour as tourists for Kagekuwa, a small village in Nishitama, Conan, Kogoro, and Ran witness someone dying in front of their eyes. While investigating, they learn that an accident which took place many years ago is linked to the murder.

Scenario: Eri continues to pretend Kogoro is the killer but only to fool real guilty party. Norifumi enters a room he believed belonged to Ritsuko, but it is revealed to be a trap set by Conan and Eri who proceed to name him as Ritsuko’s real killer. The “hayashi 2” memo meant Norifumi was unaware that Ritsuko had a meeting with a lawyer named Hayashi at 2 o’clock; he mistook it as hayashi rice for 2. The “pay later” note and “do not disturb” sign on the door was to prevent anyone walking by from ringing the door bell, possibly waking the drunk Kogoro up from his sleep. Norifumi strangled Ritsuko to death with the phone card, left Kogoro’s phone near the door to frame him, and tampered with the chain lock; he broke it in advance then retied it with thread. Norifumi tackled through the door, thus breaking the chain and the thread. He was intending to make it look like a suicide but was forced to rethink a strategy once he found Kogoro in her bed. Norifumi confesses stating Ritsuko was torturing the people his home village and was furthered to murder once he discovered Ritsuko’s plan to fabricate an affair with Kogoro, a scandal that would ruin Eri’s career. Later, Kogoro tries to ask Eri to return home with him, since it has been a year after their divorce. Eri pretends not to hear and later at home, listens again to the recording of Mouri's plead for her return.

Eri pretends to believe that Kogoro is the criminal in order to decieve the true culprit. She and Conan search for clues in order to clear his name, and find a way to trick the true culprit into revealing that he's the criminal.
