Episode 877: A Pair of Crossing Fates

Scenario: On a sunny day of summer, in a house near a bridge that is revealed to be Yoshi Koda's house, a mysterious robber is ransacking Koda's house in search of money.

At the beginning, we see Shinya turning around Yoshi's stuff trying to find money after having knocked her out. Since he found nothing, he was going to leave until Yoshi woke up again and was then knocked out a second time. Panicked, Shinya runs out of the house and leaves with the only valuable he had found: a space museum souvenir coin.

After running past the bridge, Shinya happens to be in a residential district where by accident, he runs into Genta and pushes him out of the way but as he was turning the corner, he ran into a man and fell unconscious with the man after falling from a hill. After Yoshi regained consciousness, she calls the police who then deploy Takagi and Chiba to find a man that was wearing a red jacket and jeans. Genta and the Detective Boys, who were nearby, saw Takagi and asked him what happened. Takagi explains them roughly what happened and Genta immediately remembers who the man was.

Running away from the police officer, he enters someone's property.

Episode 875: The Mysterious Prophetic Buddha

Scenario: Kogoro, bringing along Ran and Conan, is requested to investigate a Buddha statue rumored to have moved on its own. He meets Eikyo Fukuhara, his family (wife Masako, daughter Yuka, and son Eizen) and Buddhist trainee Junko Wakuda. After dinner, Eikyo displays uncaring behavior, leaves to go pray, and is later found dead with a knife in his neck. Kogoro, after finding clues thanks to Conan, declares Junko to be the killer after he attempted to scare Eikyo. Junko confesses but Conan isn’t satisfied. After finding rice powder near the victim, Kogoro is tranquilized and Conan reveals Masako to be the real killer. She discovered Junko’s scare tactic had failed, stabbed her husband to death, and framed Junko for the murder. Masako confesses stating Eikyo‘s rude and cruel treatment to his family as her motive and has a sense of relief now that he is dead. She maniacally laughs over her actions as she is arrested.

Scenario: Someji’s brutal murder is investigated. An unknown person sent a letter to Densuke to revitalize the village and suggested what room everyone should stay in. Among those mentioned were Tanzawa Michiki the archaeologist, Masuko Fumie, an art school graduate who is knowledgeable about Japanese monsters, Someji the deceased documentary reporter/historian knowledgeable about Tokugawa's buried treasure, and Hajime, a fledgling reporter who travels across the country for monster stories. Heiji was invited as a last minute resort because he is affordable. Flames suddenly combust, a nue is heard screaming, and Tanzawa is found dead from poison. Two sting marks are discovered under his chin. Densuke recalls a drop of water falling on his cheek the same moment Tanzawa was killed. Inspector Yokomizo Sango of Shizuoka Police arrives and sends in the Shizuoka Prefectural Military Self Defense Force to immobilize the area. Fumie denies involvement in the murders and Hajime was too far away from the scene of the crime.

Someone directed the mayor in a letter to invite the people to revitalize the village. The unknown sender also mentioned who should stay in which room. Ran and Kazuha exchange rooms and their room is taken by Tanzawa Michiki, the archaeologist. The reasons for inviting each of them were also mentioned. Tanzawa once examined the area of Shizuoka in the past. Until a few years ago, he was famous as a commentator in TV programs on ruins. However, he experienced a setback when some pottery he unearthed was suspected of being fake. Masuko Fumie is an author who is knowledgeable about Japanese monsters. She graduated from an art school.

The letters also suggested using the nue to revitalize the town if the buried treasure didn't work. Someji Yasukatsu, the murdered documentary reporter was a historian knowledgeable about Tokugawa's buried treasure. The letter simply suggested that Tsurumi Hajime is a fledgling reporter who travels across the country for monster stories. The members of the excavation team have all disappeared and even their names are unknown. Heiji was invited because the mayor had spent some amount of money for repairing the hotel so he was unable to invite Kogoro and also was unable to contact Shinichi.

While they are talking, fire engulfs the area and they hear the nue's scream. Tanzawa is heard screaming. He is found lying dead in his room with two sting marks on his chin, probably poisoned.

Inspector Yokomizo Sango of Shizuoka Police appears. He seems suspicious of the situation initially but on seeing the evidence, he contacts his superiors to mobilize the self-defence force, a little too much of exaggeration on his part. The mayor mentions a drop of water falling on his cheek and the simultaneous sound of opening of a carbonated beverage. Fumie denies having to do anything with it and Tsurumi was too far away from the site of the incident.

Scenario: The fact that Azusa's doppelganger was playing her in the previous episode is revealed when Azusa says that she didn't go to the concert hall. However, only Conan and Amuro himself knows that the doppelganger was actually Vermouth in disguise. Conan thinks that since Vermouth bothered to investigate, the Black Organization must really be interested in the cipher left by Kōji Haneda seventeen years ago. Azusa also reveals that she saw a strange duo in front of Mōri Detective Agency talking something about "cleaning rags".

Heiji receives a letter from Densuke Takekuma, the mayor of Yadori village, from Shimizu-ku in Shizuoka Prefecture, saying he got a hint about Takugawa’s hidden treasure and is asking for help to unearth it. Conan and his crew tag along and are taken by Densuke to a rundown hotel that was once popular but declined due to a cave-in incident that killed foreign miner Charles Abel. At the hotel, the group meets a reporter named Hajime Tsurumi, a novelist named Fumie Masuko, historian Yasukatsu Someji, and archeologist Michiki Tanzawa. A dog appears and takes a liking to Hajime but he doesn’t like dogs. They discuss Charles’s incident; he was still alive when found but couldn’t speak due to his injuries, he wrote “nue“ on a sheet of paper, horrifying his rescuers. A nue is a monster who has the head of a monkey, body of a tanuki, legs of a tiger and tail of a snake. Densuke wants to bring business back his town by recording their treasure hunt. At night, as everyone is preparing for bed, a nue appears from the flames of a fire, ripping a sign as it leaves. Conan and Heiji give chase and discover blood on the ground. They follow it into the forest and find Someji violently slashed across his back, dead.

The strange couple was actually Heiji and Kazuha. They were talking about "rags to riches" which has a similar pronunciation. They came because the mayor of Yadori village, from Shimizu-ku in Shizuoka Prefecture, had found an important clue and sent Heiji a letter requesting help to unearth Tokugawa's buried treasure. Kogoro is nonchalant to the idea since the treasure will end up belonging to the government anyway. Scared of the dangers of treasure hunting, Ran initially refuses but consents when Kazuha and Heiji suggest that Shinichi might be invited there too.

The organizer and mayor Takekuma Densuke drive them to a run-down hotel. The hotel prospered at a time when tourists came to see the Kurogane Lake but since the incident when a member of the team unearthing Tokugawa's buried treasure died in an excavation accident. According to the legend, when Ieyasu was nearly captured in the war by Imagawa, an old couple hid in the Kurogane Forest. When the country finally stabilized, he gave the couple and their son a mountain of gold coins to thank them for their kindness. This is clearly mentioned in a nursery poem: "In the morning and evening sun, two thousand jars glitter with a thousand gold coins." The reporter, Hajime Tsurumi flirts with Kazuha and Ran facing Heiji's wrath. A dog appears which seems to like Tsurumi, making him to admit he doesn't like dogs.

Ran wanted to give an answer to Shinichi's confession in London and is sad because it seems the mayor didn't invite him. Meanwhile, Hattori is planning something on his own, probably a confession to Kazuha in a magnificent place and time.

Charles Abel was a foreigner who spoke broken Japanese. He was the one who got in the accident. When the team arrived, he was still alive, his body jammed between the rocks but he couldn't speak as his throat was destroyed. He was handed a piece of paper and pen to write. The team froze seeing what he had written "nue", a monster who has the head of a monkey, body of a tanuki (Japanese Raccoon Dog), legs of a tiger and tail of a snake. It is named after a bird which has the same eerie voice. The mayor actually wants to revitalize the town and gain publicity by making a video of the treasure hunt.

When they go to sleep, Heiji notices fire in front of the hotel. When they rush to the site, the nue appears. It rips the warning sign and takes it away with its mouth. Heiji and Conan take the other way to avoid the fire. When they arrive, there are teeth marks in the signboard though the creature is nowhere to be seen. Conan finds blood spots on the ground. On going a bit further in the forest, they find Someji, the historian dead with long scratches on his back as though he was attacked by a wild beast.

Scenario: The Detective Boys go to Gifu to explore and see a local hero show. Afterwards, Mitsuhiko goes to ask for their autographs. While waiting, the Detective Boys feel he's been gone a long time. When they go to their tent, they find the heroes and Mitsuhiko have gone missing!

While returning to the Nobuna Gaizers show to have the actors sign his collection album, Mitsuhiko disappears without a trace right after entering the props tent. His whereabouts are unknown because his cellphone and detective badge were left behind by the culprits.

The museum is raided and several historical gold artefacts connected to Oda Nobunaga are stolen, including a gold miniature statue of the daimyo, and several valuable manuscripts. The security camera footage depicts the Nobuna Gaizers show actors, in full costume, as the apparent offenders. However, by observing several details, Conan swiftly concludes that this was the work of impostors who have masqueraded themselves as the Gaizers.

Scenario: Kogoro asked the police to search the ocean immediately to look for Conan and Isehara but failed to find them as the water is deep and current is fast. Believing that Conan is still alive, Haibara set off to find him to the woods and found the cave underneath the cliff where they had fallen. Conan and Isehara survived the cliff, walked through the woods and found a house while Zorro and his men, assumed that Isehara is dead, planned to attack a jewellery exhibition that night. Haibara, with the help of Conan, was able to locate the two and brought Isehara’s laptop who then confirmed that the bandits’ next target is Beika City Central Event Hall. The three robberies arrived at the location but found Conan waiting for them instead as the event has been cancelled. The gang was surrounded by the police that led to their arrest, Conan later revealed through Agasa’s voice that the woman and the baby on the picture were not Isehara's, it was photo shopped to make Zorro believe that he has a weakness but he’s actually planning to steal the money from them by transferring it to his account overseas.

Episode 869: Conan Disappears Over a Cliff (Part One)

Scenario: The episode started with the robbery of the group known as Zorro who murdered three residents of the home they broke into before burning it down. Professor Agasa, Haibara and the Detective Boys went to a villa owned by Agasa’s acquaintance but saw Isehara Yuji, injured by a crossbow, lying unconscious on the ground. Conan found Isehara’s family photo and decided to give it back to him to the hospital when he noticed a very suspicious man wearing a military boots. Ran found out that the murder took place near the villas where the kids are staying so she decided to follow them along with Kogoro. Conan set off by himself to investigate the words written at the back of the photo, he entered a forest and found a house where all bandits are gathered to kill Isehara but narrowly rescued by Conan. The two ran through the woods as they’re being pursued by the bandits but found themselves trapped on a cliff. Haibara and the detective boys happened to be on the other side and saw Isehara and Conan caught in the crossfire then fell off the cliff. Ran and Kogoro met Agasa at the villa and broke the news them.

The robbery and arson group known as Zorro murdered three residents of the home they broke into and seriously injured a patrol officer.

Yuji says he's out of the group after the leader shoots and kills three people living in the house. In response, the leader calls him a traitor, and decides to kill him.

Conan and Yuji are cornered by the Zorro robbery group. The leader shoots an arrow at Yuji and he falls. In an attempt to save him, Conan reaches out and grabs Yuji's hand, only to be dragged off the cliff as well.

Scenario: Conan, Haibara, Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi helped Tamaki Yujiro, to bring the books he bought to his bookstore and as a goodwill, he offered to give them books for free. Tamaki Ichiro came to the store and argued with his father about his run down business as it does not bring them profit, due to frustration, he knocked down one of the old bookshelf. The kids went back to the bookstore and noticed that it is closed for the past two days, so they went to the park and waited for the steam engine to move at 3PM. When they passed by the bookstore, they saw the unconscious owner under the fallen bookshelves. Fortunately, Yujiro was doing fine at the hospital and he told the kids that he decided to close the bookstore. The detective kids went back to the park and saw Ichiko looking for something beside the engine. Conan revealed that it was Ichiko who caused the accident at the bookstore by connecting a thread from the engine to the bookshelves so it will fall the moment the engine started at 3PM. Ichiko told the kids that he did it to stop his father from working and later turned himself to the police. Before the episode end, the old bookstore became a book café which was decided by Yujiro, Ichiko and his girlfriend.

Conan and the others help an old bookseller with books he was unable to carry. While at the store, he's seen arguing with his son over getting new books they don't need. While in the park next door, a stack of books falls over and hurts the owner!

Scenario: Akai and Amuro reminisce their past with Scotch and Vermouth noticed that Amuro keeps on staring at Subaru. Meanwhile, Ran wonders why Azusa called her ‘Angel’ and remembered a woman who used the same name when she went to save Haibara [refer to episode 433-4]. Amuro and Subaru showed Inspector Megure and Takagi the trick using the rope as a pulley and explained that the victim committed suicide, and Enjo Kanae made the crime scene look like he was murdered. Fuse explained that Kanae got pregnant 17 years ago and Hado locked himself to compose a song but when he found out that she had miscarriage, he felt responsible for what happened and left a message ‘sorry’ before committing suicide. Before the episode end, it was revealed that Akai attempted to stop Scotch from killing himself, as he was discovered by the organization, and offered help to let him escape as he’s working with FBI but Scotch chose to kill himself which was misinterpreted by Zero when he arrived.

Scenario: The episode started with Zero who was running up the stairs and found his friend shot by Akai Shuichi who said ‘Traitor will be punished’. Back to the present, Vermouth asked Bourbon to investigate something before it becomes public and destroy it if necessary. Ran, Conan, Subaru and Sonoko are cleaning Shinichi’s house when Sonoko mentioned that an album titled “ASACA” will be released by a musician named Hado Rokumichi who wrote the lyrics 17 years ago. The four went to Rokumichi’s rehearsal to watch but was forbidden to enter as the singer needs to focus on his song, they then met Vermouth, disguised as Azusa, and Amuro. While everyone’s busy, two guards was about to conduct a fire inspection but found Rokumichi’s corpse hanging on the stage. The suspects are: Hados’ manager Enjo Kanae, the record company president Fuse Okuyasu and the magazine reporter Kajiya Hirokazu. It was later explained that the reason why Vermouth tag along was to make sure that no harm comes to both Conan and Ran. Azusa asked Amuro about Subaru and while explaining the details, he saw Subaru wrote using his left hand when he thought he was right-handed [refer to Scarlet Pursuit episode].

Amuro runs up the external staircase of a building while thinking of Scotch's words "I'm sorry Furuya, my PSB identity has been seen through by those people...it seems like the only route of retreat left is to the other world...goodbye Rei(Zero)". At the top of the building he finds Shuichi standing over Scotch's corpse holding a smoking gun and saying "Traitors...should be punished accordingly...right?".

Naoko lived with her maid, Emi Yahagi. At the time of the crime, Emi had gone shopping and wasn't at home. It's discovered that Naoko, who gathered old books, was buying imitations from an old bookstore owner, Yotaro Sayama. Inspector Megure believes one of three is the criminal but they all have alibis. Conan gets close to the case's truth going by what Nine says.

Scenario: Conan realized the trick that the culprit used so he lured Kogoro to a room to sleep. He was about to explain his deduction when he noticed that his bow tie was missing. Kogoro started talking which startled Conan and he noticed that the voice was coming from the smartphone placed at the back of his neck. It was revealed that Mary is using the bow tie and pointed out that the culprit is Senpei. She explained, using Kogoro’s voice, how the salt, broken plate and wine glass trick work as well as the shadow seen by Kogoro at the balcony. Senpei confessed to his crime, his grudge was because Gaito found the corpse of his sister who committed suicide and buried her without telling the police which he used on his TV show. He led the people to the mountain and made them believe that he sensed the woman’s body using his [fake] supernatural abilities. Senpei ran to the next room through the balcony to escape but was later found by Conan lying unconscious, Sera followed through who was looking for her mom. Before the episode end, Mary warned Sera to keep her guard up when she’s around Conan as he’s nothing like the boy they met 10 years ago.

Episode 863: The Spirit Detective's Murder (Part One)

Scenario: Kogoro received a call from the office of Hotta Gaito, a spirit detective who’s going to summon the spirit of Haneda Koji. He initially rejected the offer but later accepted as the event will be aired in a short segment late TV show and the MC is Okino Yoko. Kogoro and Conan met Kokuri Senpei, Toto TV director, at the hotel lobby and went to see Gaito who was found dead on his bed. Kogoro saw a figure ran to the nearest balcony and decided to check if there were casualties in the next room, along with Conan, and found out that Masumi Sera is the one living next door. Conan investigated the balcony and saw a car parked directly below the victim’s balcony. Unsure of what to do, he decided to take a picture of the car and under the victim’s balcony where Mary Sera is hiding but was interrupted by Sera and made an excuse that Kogoro is looking for him. Conan left the room without realizing that his voice-changer bow tie had fallen from his pants in the balcony and was picked up by Mary.

Conan thinks about Kohji Haneda's murder case. The website with the information has been taken down and hasn't been re-uploaded yet. But Kogoro get a call from the TV-station giving him an offer to appear in a show with Gaito Hotta, a known 'spirit-detective', who claims that he is going to call Kōji Haneda's spirit and have him reveal the truth of the murder. Conan suspects that Hotta might have dig up some information on the murder and tags along with Kogorō to meet him. In the taxi Kogoro and Conan discuss Hotta. Gaito Hotta is a TV-personality, who claims to solve mysteries by contacting the souls of dead people. Kogoro explain that Hotta is a fraud who had been exposed once during a case about a missing climber. A body had been found, but it was a completely different person. And it has been proved that Hotta had paid people to testify false witness statements and had done some investigation beforehand. Now he is probably trying to do a comeback. Conan guess that Hotta has chosen the Haneda murder, because it was so long ago, but Conan decides to see if Hotta has some information that can help him in figuring out Rum's identity.

Scenario: Conan and Subaru deduced that the culprit was Senba who made a blackjack using a sock and a heavy iron ball as a murder weapon then threw it along with the colored ball on the victim's roof to confuse the Hiyama’s bodyguards. Senba confessed that he did the crime in order to have his revenge. It was later found out that he had an accident planned by Hiyama's underlings so he can persuade Senba's wife and son to sell him their land, where their candy shop was built, without his authorization. Before the episode end, Conan and Akai (disguised as Subaru) rearranged the dying message left by Haneda Koji 17 years ago and soon discovered that "U MASCARA" actually means "ASACA RUM".

Episode 861: Just Like a 17-Year-Old Crime Scene (Part One)

Scenario: Real estate company president Kunihisa Hiyama is murdered while holding a pair of scissors invented by Dr. Agasa, so Conan and Subaru Okiya accompany Agasa to the crime scene. The man who discovered the body is former candy shop owner Kazunori Senba. Agasa suspects Senba is the murderer, but it was impossible for Senba to have entered the house with a weapon. The current case closely resembles a 17-year-old case in several ways, such as the murder victim holding scissors and the sink left running at the crime scene. Conan and Okiya watch as Senba recreates the steps he took when he discovered the body and notice several contradictions.

At Agasa's resident, Conan and Haibara do research on Kohji Haneda. They learn that fifteen years ago, he went to USA for a chess competition, but he was murdered in his hotel room. His room was left in a mess and cause of death is unknown. In another room in the same hotel, another murder took place. The victim was Amanda Hughes, a wealthy American with contacts in the FBI and CIA. She was a fan and an acquaintance of Haneda, and it was proved that she had visited him in his hotel room as her finger print were left on tea cups and other thing in the room. Like Haneda the cause of her death is unknown. In the pictures from the crime scene Conan spots a broken mirror with letters on it. P-T-O-N. Haibara thinks it's a part of a message PUT ON MASCARA, and explains that a cosmetic firm would give such mirrors along with products. Her sister had one, that was inherited from their mother. But it's unclear why Haneda would have such a mirror in his room. Haibara guess that Kohji Haneda was murdered because of his connection with Amanda Hughes.

Scenario: Kogoro is hired by Junko Miyoshi to catch a thief. While working the case, the body of Junko's neighbor Naotsugu Kitagami is discovered in the parking lot behind her apartment building. Kogoro believes Kitagami got drunk and accidentally fell from his apartment balcony at number 704. Inspector Megure and the police investigate the room, and Conan finds it strange that Kitagami left his front door unlocked when his apartment was fully equipped with anti-theft devices. Conan questions Ryosuke Sawada, the resident of number 604 directly below Kitagami's, and believes Kitagami's death was not an accident.
